Preventive Care Should Be a Necessity

in Hive Learners8 days ago (edited)

This is actually a silent yet serious matter. We might have come across such situations or probably have heard stories of such from others physically or online. The thing is, these things happen. People have been found to refuse some measure of healthy preventive care for one reason or another. It can be ridiculous, especially when one hears the reasons, and much more in relation to the nature of the situation. And you could wonder, why would people refuse such preventive care?

Sometimes, people refuse this care and help due to their beliefs. Now, that I find disturbing. I'm glad that I've seen some desensitisation efforts towards such a mindset, especially coming from the authorities presiding over them in their beliefs. This could be said to be otherwise though for others, which doesn't sit well. For whatever kind of beliefs, medicines and all medical efforts are here to improve humanity; our health and survival rate. If something is this good, and not just by words but proven to be so, why refuse such intervention or help?

It's good that people have trust in their beliefs and and I know miracles do happen. But this preventive care available today is a blessing to life. The problem I'll have with such is when there are strings attached or something fishy and unclear. We might have read or heard of how preventive measures were used to wreak havoc under the guise of help. Such a case is a travesty. But this isn't the case here. And for that reason, I don't think people should be given much of the liberty to refuse something that important.

The issue isn't just that they're refusing it, and they have to suffer the risks alone. Others are left to suffer it directly or indirectly. I always say that what we do affects others, either directly or indirectly. Even if they were the ones to suffer the effects directly, they involve family members and loved ones in it through treatments, care and support. In the end, they are not suffering it alone. While this can be avoided, and easing the pressure on health facilities and workers so that the real unfortunate ones have these services, they are an unwarranted addition.

When we now go to the innocent and helpless babies, and others who could be affected all because somebody or some people refuse a very important preventive care, they could be left with the issue of a cure. Expensive treatment is now involved, care, and then the pains the helpless ones who didn't make this choice would have to go through. Making such preventive care necessary and removing the option of refusal then doesn't seem like infringement of rights, because rights are meant to protect us and others. That liberty tends to do otherwise.

I hope a lot of people can practice what they say. "Prevention is better than cure." But some people don't care about the prevention either. After the COVID 19 crisis, the community health worker came to my school to ensure the students had taken their vaccines. Honestly I never knew about the vaccine so I saw it as an opportunity.
A few days after taking the vaccine my arm felt heavy and I could barely lift it. I asked questions and a lot of people blamed me for taking the vaccine. Some said they must have injected the COVID into my system while some people said the vaccine must be reacting to something in my system.

I become scared, so scared to go to the hospital for check ups. I told my parents about it and trust me it was a terrible idea. Because they gave me serious African trauma.😂😂

So I don't know why people choose to believe what they are not sure of.

Not many practice that.
I bet you felt your life was gone.😅 That was actually the story that time.
Well, when things aren't that clear, people go with what seems like the best.

Unfortunately, people have the rights to refuse certain treatments, especially some vaccinations because taking that liberty away, means trampling on their rights. However, more sensitization and stricter laws ought to be placed on this because in the end, others are affected by their decisions, including young vulnerable babies.

Congratulations!

True. But I'm thinking, if their rights mean disaster for others; like babies, and in the long run, a larger issue, how do we reconcile that? Well, people have the right. And yes, sensitization should come in to help address this issue.

Thank you for the wonderful comment. And for the support too.🙂

Usually, if a kid has a health concern which they weren’t vaccinated against in their formative years, they can transmit it to others. However, they are often curable.

It becomes a problem if in the latter years, children contact a disease that has no cure yet but could be prevented by a certain vacinne. Surely, others will be affected and that's the reason strict laws should be made in cases of exception.

That's true.
And that's where problem lies. But I like the last statement.

Preventive health care is so important because it helps the people to don't develop a problem later on and it's better for the health system, because it's cheaper to take care before the problem evolves.

Yes, it's very important. True, it's cheaper to take preventive actions before the problem evolves.
Thank you.
