True Healthy Competition happens when everyone is improving

in Hive Learners2 days ago

The healthiest of all competition is when we compete with ourselves; this kind of competition comes with no envy and hatred, and the goal is to focus on improvement and being better than our present version. If we fail at it, we try again until we can elevate ourselves.

It is not about being better than others, but to be better than our past self, we should be able to look back and smile, knowing we are no longer who we used to be; we should be proud of ourselves for what we have achieved and that should further motivate us to try harder in surpassing the present record, that is the best kind of competition.

It is also okay to compete with others; it inspires us to do better, whatever the competition is about. However, there are some factors we need to consider when competing with others, so it won't become an unhealthy competition.

Choosing a Suitable person to compete with

One of the things that leads to unhealthy competition is when we try to compete with people far above us, and the moment it is impossible or we see the speed they are going, the envy and hatred develop, which often leads to us doing things we are not supposed to do, no rest of mind either because you keep thinking of way to beat the unbeatable.

A good example of unhealthy competition is me trying to compete with Mr dragon, Acidyo, Marky, and the likes. They have the connection and the resources to make my monthly earnings on Hive in a very short time if they want to, so trying to compete with them is ridiculous...

A good example of healthy competition is finding hiveans whose hive power grows at the same speed as yours, or a bit higher than that, and hustle together, learn from each other, seek advice and update from one another... My people in the city of Neoxian practice this; we are always asking for updates from one another, which helps us to thrive on Hive. That is a good example of healthy competition because we are all growing and no one wishes or wants to be left behind, so we are always on our toes... Moreover, our country's economy is another source of motivation; If others do not motivate you, hunger, bills, and responsibilities will motivate you.

Some years ago, I tried this with some hiveans. We planned to grow our hive power to a certain amount. We were earning at the same rate, so the competition was fun till the end. The best way to achieve a healthy competition with others is if everybody is winning.

When everybody is improving, the atmosphere is friendly and no one will want the downfall of the other; in fact, updates will be flying around so everyone can level up.

I agree with the fact that the best way to compete is competing with ourselves. Zero pressure and we can move at our pace.

Choosing someone to compete with is not bad but crossing that line of healthy/unhealthy competition happens fast that we might not even know what's happening.

It is indeed zero pressure when it involves oneself🙂

Self-awareness is important and it is a quality everyone should have, so we can know when we are crossing the line and be able to correct ourselves before it changes us.

It can be frustrating when you choose to go to war against someone you should be learning from. Some people don't even know who they should compete with, and it shows. Competing with people who are way above your league, that won't be smart at all.

abi na, competing with someone who could be one's destiny helper is the work of village people and sometimes ego...

I think a lot of people get the idea of “healthy competition” wrong
Eventually, they no longer see it as a competition but see it as war and wage war with those who they should learn from

Those are very good examples to buttress your point. As long as your competition is not helping you grow, it means it’s unhealthy.

This is very true when we focus too much on competing with people far ahead of us, it slowly breed nothing envy and pressure from nowhere.

I remember my secondary school days when I got so caught up competing with a classmate that I lost the real reason I was studying. I was hurting myself in the name of competing.

We all work harder when we are competing with another person, it can be in anything. If you make your children compete with other children in their studies, then everyone will start working much harder.

I found an interesting thing here and I think only you mentioned about it. You said to choose a suitable person to compete with and that's very important. As an example I can't compete with Elon Musk because at the current time I am not worthy to compete with him.
