It's my first time participating the CCC's The Coffee Shop Prompt, now in it's 46th week. Today, I would like to share my not-so-recent coffee get-together with friends.
Lighting has a huge impact on the feeling of a space. Do you like bright coffee shops, or do you prefer a more dusky vibe?
Before anything else, let me just say that until before writing this post, I didn't know that there's such a term as "procaffeinating". It was my first time to see the term at this coffee shop at the Holiday Inn, where my friends and I killed time as we waited for Happy Hour.
Procaffeinating (the verb)
(v.) the tendency to not start
anything until you’ve
had a coffee.
Dang! So there's a term to describe my daily morning activity inactivity. 👉👈
Procaffeinating (the coffee shop)
I've mentioned a few times that a lunch meet up with my friends usually drag through the night. After lunch, we find a good coffee shop to hang out in. This time, we went to a coffee shop in Holiday Inn at the Dubai Festival City. I was very impressed with the interior design the moment we entered.
They serve Starbucks coffee here, but not all in the SB line up. I think the barista mentioned something about the menu needing to be approved by Starbucks first. Example, we went here late November, and they did not have the seasonal drinks that other Starbucks shops offer.
Cozy ambiance
I'm not an expert in interior design, or designs in general, but yeah, they used mostly natural materials here like wood, with low hanging lights, high chairs, and aesthetic decors. Boho style, is it? I really can't tell.
What I can tell is that it really gives a relaxing vibe - something you want from a coffee shop.
Although I have to say that I really wasn't comfortable on the high chairs, considering my rather short (not too short) legs. LOL. And, they are considerably heavy and hard to move which I think is good so one just won't easily topple over.
They do have some cozy couches to lounge on -- there were areas that were suitable for intimate meetings or a bigger group like ours.
Bright or Dusky?
It depends on who I am with, and what mood I would rather be into. In this case, it was a bubbly meeting and the warm artificial lights coupled with the natural light brought upon by the glass exterior walls were perfect for the occasion.
Dusky? Perhaps if I would like to be in a "thinking" zone. I don't know.
Lighting indeed could greatly affect the mood/ambiance of a place. Procaffeinating provides a really inviting setting that lets you feel relaxed the moment you enter.
How about you? Bright or dusky? Which do you prefer?
