If there is any universal language in which we can all communicate without barriers, it is undoubtedly music. No matter the nationality, language, customs, political or religious beliefs, music unites us despite our differences.
My first approaches with this pleasurable sound art, occurred during my early adolescence, in the mid 70's with the British bands that played on the radio stations of that time, mainly with progressive rock, although over the years, I would incorporate other musical genres to my personal preferences.
Last January, during the eve of the visit of the Divine Shepherdess (Divina Pastora) to the city of Barquisimeto, the main event, not only of religious character but of any other kind in the region; I was invited by my sister and her husband to a concert of the Venezuelan musician Huascar Barradas that took place in a local social club of which they are members.
This artist who plays the transverse flute presented a repertoire of Venezuelan music, as well as some jazz songs, a genre in which he is an outstanding representative, in order to pay homage to the Virgin in her invocation of the Divina Pastora.
Even though he was accompanied by an electric bass and a cuatro, a traditional Venezuelan four-stringed instrument similar to a ukuleke but with a different tuning, at some point during the concert, a little girl from the audience got on stage to delight the audience with her tender voice.
As I have described in previous publications, I used the editing tools offered by Picsart and Snapseed applications to intervene the original image to my satisfaction.
Si existe algún lenguaje universal en el que todos podamos comunicarnos sin barreras idiomáticas de por medio, es indudablemente la música. No importa la nacionalidad, idioma, costumbres, creencias políticas o religiosas, la música nos une a pesar de nuestras diferencias.
Mis primeros acercamientos con este placentero arte sonoro, se dieron durante mi temprana adolescencia, a mediados de la década de los 70 con las bandas británicas que sonaban en las emisoras radiales de aquel entonces, principalmente con el rock progresivo, aunque con el transcurso de los años, incorporaría otros géneros musicales a mis preferencias personales.
El pasado mes de Enero, durante la víspera de la visita de la Divina Pastora a la ciudad de Barquisimeto, el principal evento, no sólo de carácter religioso sinó de cualquier otro tipo en la región; fuí invitado por mi hermana y su marido a un concierto del músico venezolano Huascar Barradas que tuvo lugar en un club social local del cual ellos son miembros.
Este artista que interpreta la flauta travesera se presentó con un repertorio de música venezolana, además de algunos temas de jazz, género en el cual es un sobresaliente representante, con la finalidad de homenajear a la Virgen en su advocación de la Divina Pastora.
Aún cuando estuvo acompañado de un bajo eléctrico y de un cuatro, un instrumento tradicional venezolano de cuatro cuerdas similar a un ukuleke aunque con diferente afinación; en algún momento del concierto, una pequeña niña del público se subió a la tarima para deleitar a todos los asistentes con su tierna voz.
Tal como lo he descrito en publicaciones anteriores, usé las herramientas de edición que ofrecen las aplicaciones Picsart y Snapseed para intervenir las imágenes originales a mi entera satisfacción.
