A Morning of Reflection: Encouraging Honesty in Duty

in CLEAN PLANETlast month

Early in the morning, as I was heading out to bring some bread, I happened to notice a group of sweepers engaged in their daily task of cleaning the streets. It was their duty to clear away the dust and collect the scattered garbage to maintain cleanliness in the area. As I observed them closely, I realized that they were not putting in much effort into their work. Instead of thoroughly cleaning the streets, they merely gathered some garbage into their bins and walked a long distance before sweeping the dust off the road.

Seeing this, I felt compelled to speak to them. I approached them and advised them not to waste valuable time and the government's money merely for the sake of appearances. I urged them to recognize the importance of their duty, not just as a job but as a service to society. Their work contributed to the well-being of everyone in the community, and I wanted them to understand that true dignity and loyalty lay in performing their responsibilities with sincerity and dedication.

I engaged in a conversation with them for about half an hour, explaining my point of view. At first, they were resistant to my words and argued, perhaps feeling criticized or misunderstood. However, as our discussion progressed, they began to see the validity of my arguments. Slowly, they came to acknowledge that my words held the truth. They recognized the significance of their job and the impact of their honesty and hard work. In the end, they accepted my advice and resumed their work with a renewed sense of responsibility, putting in sincere effort to clean the streets properly.
It was a moment of satisfaction for me, knowing that I had contributed, in my small way, to encouraging honesty and diligence in their work.
