Hello all Hivians and good people of the Gems community. Most of us may not be aware of some major happenings or events around the globe that took place on this day many years ago. I will therefore take us round the globe in a giffey to have a look at some of those historical events that took place on this day, saturday the 07/09/2024 in history.

We begin today from Egypt. Do you know that on this day in 2005, Despite poor voter turnout and charges of irregularities, Hosni Mubarak won Egypt's first multi-candidate presidential election and remained in government.

From Egypt, we move over to the world of music and entertainment. On this day in 2006, Tupac Shakur, an American rapper and actor who was a key figure in 1990s gangster rap, was shot by an unknown assailant and died six days later.

From the world of music and entertainment, we move over to world of television broadcasting. Now, on this day in 1979, ESPN, a cable network dedicated to sports, aired for the first time on American television.

From the world of television broadcasting, we move over to Brazil. On this day in 1822, Dom Pedro I (first emperor of Brazil, from Dec. 1, 1822, to April 7, 1831), declared the independence of Brazil.

Gentlemen, we'll round off our today's look in history from the Democratic Republic of Congo. Do you know that on this day in 1997, Mobutu Sese Seko, the President of Zaire (now the Democratic Republic of the Congo) who came to power via a coup in 1965 and ruled for about 32 years before being ousted in a rebellion in 1997, died in Rabat, Morocco.

My good people, that will be all from me today. Let's do it again tomorrow.
