At times when different countries is trying to own weapon of mass destruction, I was wondering , it was safe to be in the old era when bombs and missiles not introduced. While roaming around the street of Amritsar. I noticed there were many shops of swords. This took me by surprise as such shops were present in the vicinity of Gurudwara. There was an era when most of the war were fought with swords. The spiritual place for Sikhs is considered to be very pious and sacred. But finding the shops for so many weapons. Swords were popular throughout history due to their versatility in close quarters combat, portability as a sidearm, and immense prestige as a symbol of status and martial skill. Later on I learn3d it has of great importance for the Sikh community.

There were a wide areay of swords hanging on the walls and even on the ceiling. Sword shops in Amritsar exist primarily to cater to the Sikh community's requirement for kirpans (ceremonial daggers) and to serve the rich tradition of Indian martial arts. As per the religious preaching, the kirpan is one of the five articles of faith that initiated Sikhs must carry. It symbolizes grace, duty to protect the weak, and self-defense, not offense. Those used to be of a small size that Sikh people hang around their body with the help of a belt. But I never satisfied with reason for having so many swords.

All swords were made up of iron and still. Some of them were beautifully carbide with i trilateral design while some have a simple grips. I tried to old the heaviest of all it does took a lot of effort. Not sure how the ancient ruler used to carry such huge piece of weapons in the battle fields. These swords have a deep history and there were many stories associated with valor and sacrifice. Seeing g them in real does took me for a flashback images of kings and their sword army. I took few pictures of these shops and the number of swords that each of them posses.

These shops also provide for souvenirs, collectors, and historical reenactments. Skilled craftsmen in the city produce a variety of high-quality swords. In other word the city is a major hub of these swords.

In good faith - Peace!!

Ugh, a lot of swords, blades, knives, and similar. Here, they are considered as melee weapons, and they are not allowed. As a collector, you must register them.
