The hills after the rain felt like a world slowly catching its breath. I had stepped out in the evening, just when the sky had stopped weeping. Everything looked washed clean. The air had that sharp, earthy scent of wet soil and pine. Clouds, instead of vanishing, had settled low — curling around the slopes like smoke that didn’t want to rise. From the road, where the car was parked, I could see the mist moving softly across the valley, hiding and revealing little clusters of homes scattered across the hills.
बारिश के बाद पहाड़ियाँ मानो धीरे-धीरे साँसें ले रही हों। मैं शाम को बाहर निकला था, ठीक उस समय जब आसमान का रोना बंद हो गया था। सब कुछ धुला हुआ सा साफ़ लग रहा था। हवा में गीली मिट्टी और चीड़ की तीखी, मिट्टी जैसी खुशबू थी। बादल, गायब होने के बजाय, नीचे बैठ गए थे - ढलानों पर ऐसे घूम रहे थे जैसे धुआँ ऊपर उठना ही न चाहता हो। सड़क से, जहाँ कार खड़ी थी, मैं घाटी में धीरे-धीरे घूमती धुंध देख सकता था, पहाड़ियों पर बिखरे घरों के छोटे-छोटे समूहों को छिपा और प्रकट कर रहा था।
The trees stood still, soaked and dark, their leaves heavy with the day’s downpour. The sun was trying to break through the thick clouds but barely managed a dull glow, lighting the sky in patches of grey and silver.
पेड़ भीगे और अँधेरे में स्थिर खड़े थे, उनके पत्ते दिन भर की मूसलाधार बारिश से भारी हो गए थे। सूरज घने बादलों को चीरने की कोशिश कर रहा था, लेकिन मुश्किल से एक मंद चमक बिखेर पा रहा था, जिससे आसमान धूसर और चाँदी के धब्बों से जगमगा रहा था।
Far off, buildings on hilltops peeped through the mist like secrets half-spoken. With the wind a little cold and my shoes wet from the roadside grass.. i was there enjoying this beautiful view.
दूर, पहाड़ियों की चोटियों पर बनी इमारतें धुंध में से झाँक रही थीं मानो कोई आधा-अधूरा राज़ हो। हवा थोड़ी ठंडी थी और मेरे जूते सड़क किनारे घास से भीगे हुए थे... मैं वहाँ इस खूबसूरत नज़ारे का आनंद ले रहा था।
