Hello Asean Hive Community
Today I am back with my food post. Usually I post about cheap meals or frugal lunch, but this time I will be out from that topic for a while. I am sharing you guys one of the food I have bought frequently in the past, but I do not do that anymore.

It is bread egg. In the past, when money was not an issue for me due to my old job in oil and gas sector, I always bought this bread every week, from the same vendor or outlet too.
This pic was taken two weeks ago, and on that day it was sold for 20.000 rupiah or around 1.2 USD. The main reason why it was sold that much because it was on the Japanese bread retail shop. The "Japanese" part made it a bit pricy, although it was backed by the quality of their ingredients too.
A short Intermezzo, next to bread egg, there was a Yakisoba Pan. Basically it was a japanese fried noodle bun, their calorie bomb bread. Somehow it was one of the most selling one there, although I never liked it.

That day I tried to check whether it was still the same of not from the breads I used to buy years ago before Covid 19 came. I checked their stock and guess what? I found that different color egg lol.
It did not change at all. Years ago I often found the same issue, there was always be a pale yellow egg yolk in their bread. I have never known whether it was intentional or not.
What did I mean by intentional? Well maybe they wanted to convince their customer that they used omega egg, so they made one non omega egg one. Or maybe there were people who disliked omega egg... I do not know for sure even until know, you tell me then... Maybe I should ask @dbooster why they set the japanese bread egg like this.

I decided to buy one and had it at my home. Could I make this bread egg myself at home? yes I could but it would never taste the same. There are two things I could not make it the same and those were due to the utensil and ingredients needed
- The egg was soggy, even it was looked like a sunny side up, the texture and the taste was very similar to boiled egg. The egg was not dried or crisp at all. It would wiggle if you tapped it.
- The bread was a bit crispy on the outer side, but inside it was fluffy. All the bread egg I made myself was dried and crispy, it was very hard to make it fluffy. Most likely it was because I used thin bread, not that thick.
Ok that's my "Bread" story for today. I might not buy this bread again for years to come. Once a while having a cheat day is ok, but in general, I prefer to walk on my frugal living way.
