September 30th β‘οΈ October 7th, 2024Β Β Β As I write this post my family and I are loading the tuk-tuk to head towards the Thai border and meet some guests coming from Sweden to stay with us. They aren't vegetarian, but this week's challenge is, so I would love to see all the veggie foods you ASEAN Hivers can come up with. Whether buying something from the street, eating in a cafe/restaurant, or sharing a recipe from home, there are many ways to approach this challenge.
Β Β Β Whether it be a spicy sambar from Singapore or a glutinous rice snack from the streets of Vietnam, there are plenty of vegetarian things in this part of the world. Perhaps I am a little too hungry this morning and that is why I've done a food challenge, who knows, but I am certainly going to enjoy the treats you all share this week's challenge. If there are rotis involved, I will certainly be paying attention, Okay, without further ado, let's keep moving and see the winners of last week's challenge.

Β Β Β This week's winner took it all, and not by surprise though. @tegoshei is a lover of languages, and when I created this challenge I didn't think it would be only her participating. Well, either way, she certainly earned all three prizes and I am glad to award them to her. The amount of languages that are useful and spoken in the Philippines are unbelievable, and as she mentions in her post, I am always amused when I hear certain Spanish and English words I know within the various languages of her country.

First things first, I'm from the Philippines and although English is considered an official language in my country, we don't really use it in our everyday conversation. Well, we do mix it with our spoken language from time to time. For instance, instead of saying, Dugay naman ta wala magkita. Gimingaw na ko nimo. (It's been a while since we met, I already miss you.) We say, "Dugay naman ta wala magkita. I miss you na."
