Sponge Gourd - will this vine survive such adverse weather conditions?

in HiveGarden4 months ago

Namaste!

2 days ago, while taking an evening walk, I saw a vine wrapped around the trunk of a dry tree near the footpath on the roadside.

Believe me, I did not always have these incredible powers of discovering different and beautiful things in nature. Although I have always loved plants, with the addition of my passion for photography, it has blossomed further because now I can share with you all the different and beautiful things I have seen. 📸

So 2 days ago, during my evening walk, I saw this vine wrapped around the trunk of a dry tree near the footpath on the roadside and this is how it looked from a distance. The large area of water that you are seeing behind this is not a beautiful lake or some river here. This is the waterlogging of low-lying land after continuous rains, which the earth has refused to absorb.

WHY? Perhaps because we have made it a habit to play with nature, we never think about nature. Or I should say We Only THINK about nature and do nothing.

Anyway, after looking at it from a distance, I realized that it could definitely be the vine of some fruit or vegetable. From a distance, it appeared to be growing well but after going a little closer, I also came to know about its poor condition which you can understand by looking at its withered indifferent leaves.

However, it is still alive and if the ground absorbs water and there is not much rain, it might even survive. Because its current condition is due to overwatering, the reason for which I have just mentioned above.

Currently, there were many new small buds on it, seeing which I felt very good and positive because even in such adverse weather conditions, it still seems to have grown quite well.

Also, some of the buds were blooming and looking very beautiful, but apart from all this, I was looking for a mature bloom so that I could know which fruit or vegetable vine it was.

This was the only flower on this entire vine which had started taking the shape of its fruit. I was feeling a little bad seeing this because perhaps this vine might not be able to survive even till the fruits ripen. But right now we can't do anything except hope that some miracle happens and this vine can live its life happily.

Although I recognized it just by looking at its flowers, but for confirmation I also asked Google Lens and I was right, it is a Sponge Gourd vine. 🥒

I hope you liked my Discovery and Phone Photography! :)

You're right that our eyes change when we discover our fondness for photography, the same thing happens to me! It's great when you discover that something catches your attention and leads you to reflect like you did here. Definitely nature teaches us so much if we keep the antennas on: don’t think, do! I hope that the excess water does not manage to finish with the plant, those new shoots are a good sign. Although the photographs are very beautiful, the yellow flower stands out among all.

Exactly, Nature is a great teacher if we keep our antennas on. I hope the same for the plant. However, my experience is completely opposite to what I am hoping, but I still hope because miracles do happen.
Thank you for appreciating it and for this curation!😊🙏🏼

It has a very nice flower, all plants deserve a chance to continue living, nature rewards us for taking care of it, let's hope that the excess water is absorbed 🙏

beautiful photographs

Thank you for appreciating its beauty!💙

nice shot

Thanks!

Looking at the leaves, appears that it won't survive. However, looking at the new buds, it seems that it has already adjusted to the adversity and won!

Good Discovery, brother 😄

I also want it to survive, although the chances are very slim because its roots were completely submerged in water and in my experience it is not one of those plants that can grow healthy even in water. But Let's Hope for the Best!😊 Thank you bhai!🙏🏼

Sponge gourd are so cool - hope it survives!
