It is well known that my favorite word is tree. There is no more beautiful concept than this. Living organism: analog of man.
A tree is a symbol of life, strength, pure energy, natural soul.
Perhaps my word will never suffice to signify its power, but to me a tree is synonymous with roots, blossoming memories, personal growth, encapsulating the essence of life in a simple but powerful metaphor that grows and soars over time.

We used to have three fruit trees in our backyard, two orange trees (my fruit) and another magnificent guava tree. I planted them with my father when I was 4 years old.
The relentless weather and the winds of the occasional tropical cyclone, made them perish.

Sometimes I feel a certain grateful nostalgia for so much fruit, so much shade, so much green that they gave me. Then I go to the park that is half a block from home and hug the trunk of another of the trees dear to me, the one of my games, the one that gave me shelter from the sun while I was learning to ride a bicycle, as if I were hugging one of the relatives at home.
When I hug a tree inevitably comes to my mind a very beautiful song, performed with absolute mastery by the Argentine Alberto Cortez and of which I share with you a fragment of its lyrics and video:

Many years have passed and I have finally returned
To my beloved homeland
And at the edge of the courtyard there he was waiting for me
As one waits for a friend
It seemed to smile at me as if it wanted to tell me: "look
I'm full of nests".
That tree that we planted... forty and many years ago
When I was just a child
The one that sprouted
And time passed
Half of my life
With him stayed
Today under his shadow
That grew so much
We have memories
My tree
And me

The lyrics of Mi árbol y yo tacitly translate my relationship. And as I cannot avoid the thousand and one sensations that seize me while I write this post under the magic of the song, I was born the verse as a good tree, a glossed sonnet that takes height from the verses of another, coincidentally Argentinian, poet of the greats: Alfonsina Storni.

Here is another of my tributes to the tree, a recurrent subject in my writings.

High promise

He rises so high from the ground
to give you an immaculate vision,
for if your gaze seeks its end
you stumble, human, with the sky

The pity of the cypress tree

It promises me a landscape from which I hang
gray trace of the atmosphere reached.
Upright trunk! oh, the tangled frond...
He rises so high from the ground.

Whimsical color, light in comfort
Of the sap that kindles my dawn.
In his pact to the clouds be lure
for giving you an immaculate vision.

The pupil between dilated shadow
takes note of ascent in thickness,
for if your gaze seeks its end

wandering, of leaves forges the flight;
your roots penetrate my depths,
you stumble, human, with the sky.

It is my wish that you may enjoy all of this that I wanted to share with you as part of this initiative corresponding to week 7 of The Weekly Hive Garden Question- A Story of a Tree. I thus invite @roswelborges, @sacra97 and @kpoulot to creatively join this initiative.

By the way, if you haven't hugged a tree, don't waste a second to do so. When you do you will understand many things....

Until another meeting

A mi terruño querido

vagabunda, de hojas fragua el vuelo;

The Weekly Hive Garden Question- A Story of a Tree.

wow! what a wonderful piece @maiasun84 I can really feel the emotions in every line of the poem. I was deeply touched how you appreciate and value trees as if they are your friends or even family. I can relate to this since I am a biophilic - I find solace and comfort in connecting with nature and trees are one of the best subjects. Our house is surrounded with trees, keeping us cool and shaded during warm days in the Philippines. But their presence is more than just being a shade or a natural cooler, they made me relax and calm especially when I was battling with postpartum anxiety. These wonderful giants helped me a lot to get through that lowest point of my life. 💚

Abrazongo
