Prelude
Good day to all, how are all of you doing? Have you taken part in the anniversary celebrations? If you did, I hope you won something from either the Twitter activity or the tournament. Even if we didn't manage to win anything, it is really amazing that Splinterlands had been running for a good 6 years. In today's Social Media Challenge, I will bringing a sharing on Baakjira and a match with it in the lineup.
Baakjira
This is an interesting card to be part of a lineup for high mana matches. In its initial stages, Baakjira probably did not unlock it's full potential, but with the introduction of Weapon's Training, this card potential was fully unlocked. However, in today's battle sharing, I will be using Baakjira in its normal form without the Weapons Training giving it additional attack.
In case you are not familiar with Baakjira, here is how the card looks like and how its stats and abilities increase with each level increase:
At level 1, this card has Void and Slow. With Kelya as Summoner, you effectively become 2 speed faster than your opponents without speed boost. With a whooping 11 health, this card can take loads of magic punishment before falling. When it levels up, it further boost the lineup in terms of health with Strengthen and also it will get healing. My simple assessment for this card is that it is a card that is made to be a tank and especially a magic tank. This is a card that if suitable, I will always try to put it at first position when I lineup my water splinter lineup. So let's proceed on to the battle itself.

Selection Analysis
Things are a little tricky here because it is only 21 mana and I am attempting to stuff as many cards as I can into the lineup. To access low mana cards from Dragon collection, I fielded Quix. And with this, I am able to get in Dhampir Infiltrator and Kra'ar Xoc. Remaining, I added 2 more sneak attack cards which are ever reliable and also a Torrent Fiend since it is 0 mana. The game plan I had was to use Baakjira as a tank and then use the 3 sneak cards to do a backline assault.
On my opponent, he fielded the difficult to beat Djinn Oshannus right at position 1 as the tank and I presume, he wanted to use Riverboat Captain's blast damage to slowly wear off my lineup while Oshannus keep my side at check. 2 padding cards were left at the back in the form of Chicken and Hardy Stonefish.
Let's see how Baakjira hold the fort at the front and my other cards to deal the damage.
Round by Round Synopsis
Round 1 - The smashing begins with Oshannus hitting Baakjira but barely scratching it 1 damage, while my sneakers did work and took out Chickien and on the verge to settling Hardy Stonefish. Unfortunately my Torrent Fiend took a blast damage and fell.
Round 2 - Another minor scratch on my Baakjira by Oshannus while the backline continue "working backwards" and bring down the health of Riverboat Captain. Kra'ar Xoc survived the blast because of the Scavenge from the fallen Chicken, Stonefish and Torrent Fiend.
Turn 3 - The bombardment from the back resumes as Riverboat Captain was killed and the backline continue their work towards Oshannus. With the whole squad facing that 1 Oshannus.
Round 4-5, Every sneak card plummet onto Oshannus and slowly chip off its health bit by bit and finally cleared it from the board. A well deserved win where Baakjira just help the front and give that additional speed boost to my lineup to overcome and still be able to land hits on Oshannus which had an innate high speed. And most of it, it was barely scratched.
Battle Summary
If I fielded another tank, it would be a much more difficult match to handle as Oshannus is more than capable to tear down tanks with that 2 magic damage. But because it is Baakjira which had the Void and also the Slow, my sneakers managed to whack ahead of my opponent. One secret important participant was actually Kra'Xoc. It is crazily cheap at 1 mana and has Scavenge. So essentially it became my backline tank and help to stay alive sufficiently for my sneakers to do their work. I personally felt that, it was a right pick for me to use Baakjira as a tank to handle what my opponent had and it paid well.
