Prelude
Greeting to all, it is coming to mid week and welcome back to another new post on Adapting to Modern where I look at how I crossed over from playing in Wild Battles till today focusing and getting more cards on Modern Battles, sharing with the community the struggles, the strategies and things I do to move towards playing in Modern. I have already shared quite a substantial amount, hope the brief introduction and assessment have help you with your selection and decision whether or not to invest into cards and improve your collection. As heard over last week, there will be new Conclave Arcana reward cards that will be released soon. And for sure we will have another new shake up in terms of the meta. And I personally think it is good that new cards are released to continuously help us not rest on our laurels.
Rebellion Core Set Cards
Similar to the previous post for this series, we will begin discussing card from the Rebellion Core Set. Using a similar method when I reviewed the Soul Bound reward cards, I will be discussing about the growth of the cards and will give a simple review to whether or not investing into them will level up your game play or not. And let's continue our review and look at 2 cards from the dragon splinter of which 1 is an epic card and the other a legendary card.
Redwyrm Dragon
The first card that we will be looking at will the Redwyrm Dragon which is a epic card. First glance, like many dragon splinter cards, this card has a high mana cost but correspondingly, the stats that comes along is rather decent. When we first look at the abilities on the card itself, it just tells us that this is the card for all the problematic rulesets such as Noxious Fumes and Earthquake or even both of them together. This is really a card designed to overcome it all and stand stall when everyone else is killed off. A key utility card but still having very decent use case on normal rulesets. The health on this card is really great while the stun ability that it gains at higher levels will make this an even more attractive card to get hold off as it really can be key disabler which keeping itself disable free. Would be a good card to add into collection for sure.
Runeseer Sevaya
Next card we will look at will be Runeseer Sevaya, not often do we see dragon splinter cards that are low in mana especially for legendary ones and this is one that is really interesting. Typical dragon splinter cards tend to be overwhelming and over power by raw power and stats, but this is a card that has no attack. To get bigger value for this card, weapons training is essential with Moxian Rebel a good choice to train her to gain magic attack. This card essentially will be the witch doctor in a dragon lineup where it gives supports the whole lineup in terms of defensive boost and clearing off any negative debuffs given by opponent. At level 1, it has cleanse and protect which already an impressive set of abilities for the lineup to ensure clearing of bad status and give the lineup additional armour. It even complements with repair at higher level to repair the broken armour it gives considering there is blindness that is already helping the team out defensively already. A really nice utility card with a big array of abilities that one can tap on and ensure longer survivability on field to help you gain victory.
Assessment
2 cards reviewed today from dragon splinter. And incidentally both are at 7 mana. Both are really nice cards with good abilities and when dragon splinter is available for selection, will be able to make a difference depending on what kind of lineup you set yourself up for.
Rating wise, Redwyrm Dragon would be getting a rating of 4.0/5 from me. A card designed for those irritating rulesets with the only concern being that the cost required to summon this is a little too high but otherwise, will be a key card if you encounter that kind of rulesets. As for Runeseer Sevaya, I would give it a 4.2/5. I forget to mention that this card can be used in little league and will be an amazing addition due to the abilities it brings. All the survivability package all stored into this card and definitely worthy to bring along as long as you can train her to get some attack and contribute to the lineup.
My recommendation will be to get to Redwyrm Dragin to at least level 5 for the stun but otherwise, the level 1 already packs the package it was intended for with both flying and immunity. As for Runeseer Savaya, my take will be for it be at level 3 for almost every essential ability already unlocked.
Wrap Up
Rebellion contain amazing cards that are available within it and with Conclave Arcana establishing its foothold in the meta, synergies built amongst them will yield loads of advantage in the battlefield. Using the right cards at correct positions and ruleset will greatly elevate your gameplay. Not forgetting that we will be seeing the new Conclave Arcana reward cards which might bring new synergies with the core Rebellion set.
Let's continue to grow and find path in modern as we journey on playing Splinterlands.
