Splinterland's : Battle of forgotten cards, Really?
This week Splinterland's community challenge featured the battle of the forgotten cards and frankly speaking this tittle confused me. My observation when I played Splinterland's at top level , I saw them playing with precision, often mimicking each other team because in that particular situation that was best possible team to form. I do not think that they are forgetting cards or game mechanics. They are simply putting the best cards and the monsters in the team , so that can win the battle and earn good amount of SPS in stake in the game, I will not say they are forgotten cards, I will rather say that they are not statistically favorable to play from ton of option available in the Splinterland game.
But on the other hand, if I get this equation right then it also means that if you play your team right then even if these statistically "unfavourable" cards can pull the battle in your favour. By luck, Actually on of the battles happened , in which I got the victory. A fight in which it look lost at very first glance, A fight that lasted for 20+ rounds and in the end , the surviving card in the fight is might the most unused card in the 40+ mana battle.
So let me show the first screenshot of the battle.
Did you notice something unusual in Water team?
For 7 mana it has "Flying Squid" vs "Pelacor Mercenary" in opponent team for that 7 mana. On any day, I do not consider "Flying Squid" a match to "Pelacor Mercenary" but card positioning makes all the difference. Look closely , that opponent Pelacor Mercenary is just a silent spectator at the starting round while Flying Squid is positioned an active position from the very start of the game.
At this juncture, I will really urge you to see the battle.
I hope, you have enjoyed this 20+ round of the battle and already know which card surprisingly survived till the end of the battle to give me victory in this battle.
Those who have not watched this battle till end, for them I should tell that it was 1 mana "Hardy Stonefish" , Can I compare it stats with opponent 1 mana "Halfling Refugee" ? Actually, only reason I put Hardy Stonefish in the team because I have 1 mana spot left and I fit it, no serious thought given for it as opposed to "Flying Squid" where I kept it number 2 position for its "reach" ability.
So it's simple, a well thought team does have a chance of pulling victory against a team comprised of monsters of strong stats but with loopholes in formation.
