Splinterlands is a pretty complicated game with interesting battles with all the options available. This is a part of the weekly social media challenge for Splinterlands. This week is about a great fight where I won because I used Thaddius Brood.
Featured cards
Thaddius Brood is a death summoner that costs 4 mana. This summoner gives -1 magic and health to all opponents. Increasing the level will also increase the level of monsters you can use up to in fights. This means that monsters will gain more stats and abilities. I have this card at level 5 as a common foil and level 2 as a gold foil. It's too bad that Chaos Legion is out of modern so this card is mainly used by me in guild brawls.
Rule Set, Battle, and Plan

The ruleset this time is Deflection Field, Equalizer, and [Are You Not Entertained?]. This means that all monsters start off with the same health, an extra gladiator can be used, and all monsters gain the deflect ability. There is also 55 mana available, and I can use only death splinter.
Splinter | Mana Cost | Position | Reason |
---|---|---|---|
Thaddius Brood | 4 | Summoner | -1 health and magic |
Dumacke Orc | 6 | 1st | Shield |
Djinn Muirat | 9 | 2nd | Void Armor |
Gargoya Devil | 7 | 3rd | Close Range and Flying |
Witch of Warwick | 5 | 4th | Life Leech and Bloodlust |
Sand Worm | 9 | 5th | Sneak |
Dhampir Stalker | 7 | 6th | True Strike |
Total Mana: | 47 |
I use Thaddius Brood as my summoner because it reduces my enemies health and magic by 1. Dumacke Orc is my tank with shield and its low health is not an issue due to the Equalizer ruleset. Djinn Muirat is my second monster as a backup tank with void magic. Gargoya Devil is my third monster as a damage dealer and backup tank with flying and close range. Witch of Warwick is a magic monster with life leech and bloodlust. I have two monsters focused on damage and they are Sandworm and Dhampir Stalker.
My strategy is to tank my opponent's hits with my first four monsters while the rest of my damage takes out my opponent. Sandworm is used because of its high damage and sneak ability. Since this is a long fight, it is possible for me to kill off a few monsters due to this. The rest of my monsters are all focused on the front-most monster and my first four monsters are valid tanks to help me tank the damage that my opponent can do.
Round 1
At first glance, I think that this match is to my advantage. My opponent is focused on magic damage, and my summoner reduced each monsters damage by 1. This match could still go to my opponent if I miss too many attacks.
Round 7
I fast-forwarded to round 7 because it was a long match going back and forth. My opponent lost 4 monsters while I have 2, but I am close to losing a 3rd. My opponent's backline monster is also almost dead. So I think this match is my win due to my damage advantage.
I ended up winning this match a few rounds later, like I expected. The damage from Sandworm and the rest of my monsters was too much for my opponent to overcome.
Conclusion
The battle this time did play out as I expected. My monsters were able to kill off my opponent without too many issues. In particular, Sandworm demolished those backline monsters, and the tanks up front did their job of delaying my opponent. I still think the MVP of this fight is Thaddius Brood because it reduced the magic damage. Otherwise, that magic damage would have added up, and my opponent could have gotten bloodlust.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.
