Splinterlands is a pretty complicated game and there are some interesting battles with all the options available. This is a part of the weekly social media challenge for Splinterlands. This week, it's about the new reward cards coming out after this splinterlands season.
New Reward Cards
You will see the above if you check the rewards shop. There is less than a week left before the new set of Rebellion reward cards are released. This post talks about the new updated cards, the new abilities, and the unbinding of the current set of soulbound reward cards. One thing to note is that the size of the reward cards in the upcoming set is the same as the current set: 12 common cards, 12 rare cards, 7 epic cards, and 12 Legendary cards.
7 new abilities are released in this new set. Four of them are similar to the existing skills where they give a card an extra ability, but three of them are bad for your cards. The cards with bad effects will have higher base stats to make up for it. It's interesting to see them put in bad abilities so these cards will tend to favor fast fights as the bad effects will add up over time and it will hurt your chances.
The ability that I think is the most interesting is Corrupted Healing. This ability restores 1/3 of max health to allied units, rounded down but reduces max health by 1 every round. I think this card can be very powerful in certain rulesets such as Noxious Fumes as it keeps your party alive.
Unbinding Cards
Day 1-29: 10 times the card's power in DEC
Day 30-59: 11 times the card's power in DEC
Day 60-89: 12 times the card's power in DEC
Day 90-119: 13 times the card's power in DEC
Day 120-149: 14 times the card's power in DEC
Day 150-179: 15 times the card's power in DEC
The cost of unbinding a card is based on the power held by the card. Every 30 days that pass, the cost of unbinding a card will increase and after 180 days, the cards can no longer be unbinded. That means a maxed level 10 common card will cost 20k DEC or about $20 to unbind. This is the cost before it even gets on the market to be sold. The costs are quite high and I don't see myself unbinding any cards and I don't have any cards maxed level anyways. It just doesn't seem worth it so I guess these cards will be bonded to my account for the foreseeable future.
Currently, soulbound cards can be burned for Glint but if you unbind them, then they will turn into DEC. Also, if you combine any unbound card with a bound card, then the resulting card is a bound card. So you need to be careful about combing cards because you will have to pay for unbinding it again if you want to sell it. This won't apply to me because I don't see myself buying or selling any of the Soulbound cards.
Conclusion
The new set of reward cards is about to come out for Splinterlands. If you have any Glint and want to increase your cards, make sure to do so before the season ends. We will have a similar amount of cards in the new set and we have new abilities coming out. I think they will make the fights more interesting. After that is the process for unbinding the reward cards and the cost of doing so. I think it's quite expensive to do so and I don't plan on doing that.
Are you excited about the changes and will you be unbinding cards?
