Splinterlands is a pretty complicated game with interesting battles with all the options available. This is a part of the weekly social media challenge for Splinterlands. This week is about a great fight where I won because of Coastal Sentry.
Featured cards
Coastal Sentry is a water splinter that costs 10 mana. It starts off with the double strike ability. As it levels up, it gains the piercing ability at level 6 and knock out at level 10. I have this card at level 3 so it has all of its abilities. I like using this card with Possibilus because the damage it can deal is amazing when it survives.
Rule set, Battle and Plan
The ruleset this time is Heavy Hitters and Unprotected. This means that monsters have no armor and all monsters gain the knock out ability. There are 36 mana available and I am left with the choice of water or life splinter.
Splinter | Mana Cost | Position | Reason |
---|---|---|---|
Possibilus the Wise | 6 | Summoner | +2 health, trample and reach |
Grimbardun Fighter | 9 | 1st | Shield |
Coastal Sentry | 10 | 2nd | Double Strike |
Torrent Fiend | 0 | 3rd | |
Merdaali Guardian | 3 | 4th | Tank Heal |
Supply Runner | 6 | 5th | Swiftness |
Igor Darkspear | 2 | 6th | |
Total Mana: | 36 |
Possibilus the Wise is my summoner for its +2 health, trample, and reach ability. Grimbardun Fighter is my tank with shield. After that is Coastal Sentry as my main damage dealer. I have a filler monster followed by Merdaali Guardian with tank heal. In my last two spots is my ranged monsters and Supply Runner has swiftness to boost my speed.
Round 1
At first glance, I think that this match could go either way. I am not using any magic monsters so Baakjira isn't as annoying, but that taunt monster will be a bit annoying to deal with, and that opportunity monster isn't a good thing for me either. The only advantage that I have is that I have the damage advantage.
Round 3
Both me and my opponent lost two monsters, but my opponent lost his tank, and his opportunity monster is upfront now. At this point, I have the match won unless I miss too many attacks. However, I have the speed advantage so I don't think that is very likely. I still have my healer alive also because the opportunity monster didn't target it during the 2nd round due to the sneak monsters.
I won this match a few rounds later as I expected. There wasn't much my opponent could do once Coastal Sentry could attack unimpeded.
Conclusion
The battle this time around went as I expected. Coastal Sentry was a beast in this fight as it could attack from the 2nd spot without any issues. It was not affected by that taunt monster and wiping out the frontline ended up protecting my backline. My opponent's damage was too spread out otherwise it would have been closer, but I just think that the damage advantage that I had was too much for my opponent to overcome.
