Splinterlands Social Media Challenge: Kulu Mastermind's weapons training is powerful in melee mayhem

in Splinterlands8 days ago

Splinterlands is a pretty complicated game with interesting battles with all the options available. This is a part of the weekly social media challenge for Splinterlands. This week is about a great fight where I won because of Kulu Mastermind.

Mantaroth is a neutral splinter that costs 11 mana. It starts off with the opportunity ability and weapons training. As it levels up, it gains the shield ability at level 2, and enrage at level 4. I have this card at level 1 so it only has the base abilities, but it works well as a damage dealer and sometimes for the weapons training under the right rulesets.

Rule set, Battle and Plan

The ruleset this time is Odd Ones Out, Melee Mayhem, and Four's a Crowd. This means that only odd mana cards can be used, up to 4 monsters can be used and melee monsters can attack from anywhere. There are 51 mana available and I am left with the choice of fire, water, earth, or life splinter.

Possibilus the Wise is my summoner for its +2 health and trample. Ulundin Overseer is my tank because I wanted a tankier monster up front. After that is Kulu Mastermind for the weapons training. My third monster is Noa the Just for the rust. My last monster is Mantaroth with shield and armored strike. I decided to leave it in the back so it can deal extra damage using its armor.

Round 1

round 1.png
At first glance, I think that I have the advantage. The only issue is that taunt monster up front because it has dodge. If I can take that out, I should win the match because I have the damage advantage.

Round 2

round 2.png
I was able to take out the troublesome monster first, so I think this match is my win. However, I am glad that the enraged hit only destroyed my armor on my first monster.

I won this match a few rounds later, as I expected. Although I lost my tank, I was able to finish off my opponent without any issues. However, I missed more attacks than I would have liked.

Conclusion

The battle this time around went as I expected. Kulu Mastermind allowed me to combine those non-attacking monsters into damage dealers for the ruleset. This gave me some extra damage and some extra abilities that let my monsters finish off my opponent faster. At the same time, putting Mantaroth in the last spot was a great choice because the armored strike gave it two attacks every turn. When combined with my summoner, there wasn't much that my opponent could do.

You can see my entire match here.
