Splinterlands is a pretty complicated game with interesting battles with all the options available. This is a part of the weekly social media challenge for Splinterlands. This week is about a great fight where I won because of Katrelba Gobson.
Featured cards
Katrelba Gobson is an earth monster that costs 6 mana. It starts with bloodlust, sneak ,and double strike. It learns snare at level 5 and cripple at level 9. I have this card at level 6 so it has up to snare.
Rule set, Battle and Plan

The ruleset this time is Lost Magic, Born Again, and Target Practice. This means that all monsters start off rebirth, no magic monsters can be used, and all ranged monsters monsters gain the snipe ability. There are also 36 mana available, and I can choose earth or dragon splinter.
Splinter | Mana Cost | Position | Reason |
---|---|---|---|
Helios Matriarch | 6 | Summoner | +1 speed and gladiator |
Mantaroth | 11 | 1st | Shield and Armored Strike |
Thane Newsong | 5 | 2nd | Inspire and Strengthen |
Uraeus | 3 | 3rd | Sneak and Poison |
Vruz | 2 | 4th | Sneak and Martyr |
Katrelba Gobson | 6 | 5th | Sneak, Double Strike, and Bloodlust |
Fungus Flinger | 3 | 6th | Martyr and Blind |
Total Mana: | 36 |
I use Helios Matriarch as my summoner for the +1 speed and access to a gladiator. I have Mantaroth as my tank because of its shield and armored strike ability. Then I have Thane Newsong with inspire and strengthen as my backup tank. After that are three sneak monsters. The first has poison, the second is Vruz with martyr, and the third is Katrelba. My last monster is a ranged monster with martyr and blind.
Round 1
At first glance, I think that I have the advantage. With the low health monsters in the back, I should be able to stack quite a few bloodlust with Katrelba. Most of my opponents damage is focused on my tank so I am not too worried.
Round 4
I fast-forwarded to round 3 because my opponent couldn't do much damage and I was able to just wipe out my opponents backline with my sneak monsters. At this point, there is nothing my opponent can do because I haven't lost a single monster.
I ended up winning this match a round later like I expected. There wasn't much my opponent could once I stacked that bloodlust on Katrelba. Its too bad that I couldn't take advantage of martyr though.
Conclusion
The battle this time played out how I wanted it to. Mantaroth worked well as a tank because magic monsters can't be used. It stayed alive and Thane worked as a good tank against those ranged monsters. With the damage spread out, I wasn't in any danger as my sneak monsters demolished my opponent's backline. I am a bit surprised to see all the bloodlust on Katrelba, but it makes sense since rebirth revives the enemies' health at 1. So it was quite common to see the double strike stacked two bloodlust in a turn.
You can see my entire match here.
What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.
