Splinterlands is a pretty complicated game with interesting battles with all the options available. This is a part of the weekly social media challenge for Splinterlands. This week is about a great fight where I won because I used Katrelba Gobson.
Featured cards
Katrelba Gobson is an Earth splinter that costs 6 mana. This card is a gladiator, and it starts with bloodlust ability, sneak, and double strike. It learns snare at level 6 and cripple at level 9. I love using this card because it can be powerful when synergized with the right abilities (inspire or martyr). Once it starts to stack up that bloodlust, this card can easily become unstoppable.
Rule set, Battle and Plan

The ruleset this time is Unprotected. This means that no monsters will have armor in this match. There are also 28 mana available, and I can choose any splinter except for fire.
Splinter | Mana Cost | Position | Reason |
---|---|---|---|
Helios Matriarch | 6 | Summoner | +1 speed and gladiator |
Halfling Refugee | 1 | 1st | |
Void Dragon | 5 | 2nd | Flying and Void |
Thane Newsong | 5 | 3rd | Inspire and Strengthen |
Vruz | 2 | 4th | Sneak and Martyr |
Katrelba Gobson | 6 | 5th | Bloodlust, double strike, sneak, and snare |
Fungus Flinger | 3 | 6th | Martyr and Blind |
Total Mana: | 28 |
I use Helios MatriarchFranz Ruffmane as my summoner for the +1 speed and gladiator. In my first spot is Halfling Refugee as my tank. Its low mana costs and decent stats make it an ideal first card to use. Then I have Void Dragon in my second spot as my backup tank with the flying and void ability. This helps me avoid some damage from the magic monsters as it should let my backline dealers attack more. My third monster is Thane Newsong with its inspire and strengthen ability, but I used it more for the inspire as it would increase Katrelba's damage. My 4th and 6th monsters are both marytr monsters, one with sneak and the other with blind. Between those martyr monsters is my Katrelba Gobson and the card that I am depending on the most in this fight.
This lineup makes use of some decent tanks up front to give my backline monsters more chances to attack. I have Flinger in the last spot because if a sneak monster kills it, then Katrelba Gobson is buffed up. I am focused on outlasting my opponent while Katrelba Gobson slowly kills off my opponent's backline.
Round 1
At first glance, I think that I have the advantage in this fight due to Katrelba Gobson. That Grund could hurt, but I just don't think my opponent can outlast me using Quora with Katrelba Gobson as my damage dealer. It could still be possible for me to lose if I miss too many attacks, but I just don't think that is likely because our speeds are about the same.
Round 2
My opponent lost 2 monsters while I only lost 1. Katrelba Gobson was also able to get a bloodlust stack so its speed is now higher than any of my opponents remaining monsters. So I don't see any reason as to why I would not win this match. In the best case scenario, my Katrelba Gobson can kill off Quora this round.
I ended up winning this match a few rounds later, as I expected.
Conclusion
The battle this time played out how I wanted it to. Since there was no armor in this match, Katrelba Gobson was the perfect choice as my primary damage dealer. By creating a few good tanks up front and using other monsters to support my Katrelba Gobson, I was able to win this match with ease. It didn't matter if my opponent had a Quora because I was able to easily outdamage the heals that it had. I love using this card so I am a bit sad when this season is over because I won't be able to use the gladiator summoners anymore.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.
