Every week there is a Splinterlands challenge that can be found in this week's post. I also encourage Splinterlands players to partake in the challenge because they get to learn about the game. In this week's challenge, we talk about the fee for Wild, which is waived this season. So anyone can join in.
Wild Format
Ranked battles have three different categories: Modern, Wild, and Survival. In modern format, you can only use Conclave Arcana and Rebellion cards. For Wild format, you can use any cards that include cards from previous editions, such as Untamed and Chaos Legion. The last format is Survival, where cards enter a cooldown period after they die in battle.
For this post, we are talking about the Wild Format. I used to play in the Wild Format because I had a decent Untamed deck, but I stopped after they included a Wild Pass. This Wild Pass costs 2,000 DEC a season, and it just did not seem worth the cost when I can't play that actively. The barrier of 2,000 DEC was just too much to overcome, so I moved over to Modern, where the costs weren't there. Recently, Conclave Arcana came out, so Chaos Legion was removed from Modern. This made my deck much weaker, so I like that they are making the Wild Format free for this season. It will give me some time before I decide which cards I want from Conclave Arcana, and I can fight in Modern again. I have seen a guild member quit the game because of the changes, and I feel sorry for anyone who felt that they couldn't play anymore after the new set came in.
My Season so far
It's been a while since I last been in Wild format, so it feels weird to see all the cards available. I was able to start using Yodin Zaku again. Yodin was my first legendary summoner, and it was a beast with its abilities. Giving blast to every single monster and buffing ranged monsters made it an amazing summoner. So far, I am just slowly moving up in the ranks. I have won most of my fights, but there are still some fights that I lost. I guess I'll have to get used to having all these monsters available and which combinations I should use.
From what I have seen, the Glint is comparable to Modern so far. I think it's only a bit lower because I haven't advanced my league far enough yet, but the SPS is far lower. I will have to wait to see how things play out before I can say for sure. I haven't done enough in Wild yet because I have been busy throughout the week.
Conclusion
The changes to the gameplay after Conclave Arcana have been kind of huge. So I am glad that Splinterlands has decided to make the Wild Pass free this season. It gives players a better chance to get prepared for the new changes in Modern. I remember being shut out of modern during the last few days because the changes happened towards the end of the season. I thought it would happen on the following season, so I was at a loss for what to do. I plan to buy individual cards later in Conclave Arcana, but I have to figure out which cards are the best to grab. I don't know if I will be as competitive as I was before with Chaos Legion, though.
