Every week there is a Splinterlands challenge that can be found in this week's post. I also encourage Splinterlands players to partake in the challenge because they get to learn about the game. In this week's challenge, we talk about Custom Challenges in Splinterlands.
Custom Challenges
To access the Custom Challenges, you can find it in the play menu. I have put a red box around where you would find the challenge button.
You get the above menu when you press challenges. You can pick your opponent, what cards are allowed and the level caps for the cards. If you have more than 50,000 SPS, then you can do some more options. It costs 10 DEC or credits if you do not have 50,000 SPS staked.
I was only a few hundred SPS away from 50,000 so I transferred the SPS that I had in Hive Engine over. I am staking all of this to get over 50,000 staked SPS so I don't have to pay a fee to set options on the challenges. When you do this, you are able to set the mana cap, rulesets, and elements in the match.
Options in the challenges
I review the options below except for opponent and mana cap because those two are self-explanatory.
Here you can choose what cards are allowed. You can pick from all cards, alpha, gladiators, modern, ghost cards and ghost modern. One thing to note is that the ghost cards and ghost modern automatically give you the max level cards but you don't own them. You don't earn any SPS or glint from doing challenge battles.
You can also choose the level caps for the cards. This means that the maximum level of your cards are limited and it was how ranked battles worked before they changed it.
Next up is the option to choose the rulesets for the battle. This lets you customize the battle exactly how you want.
The last option you can customize is the elements. If you only want to allow certain splinter types to be used, you can do so as well.
Example Rulesets
For example, you might want to test out how well your lineup does in a magic only fight. In that case, you can use the Wands Out, Keep Your Distance, and Broken Arrows. This means that only magic monsters can be used and the other two rulesets stop the use of melee monsters or ranged monsters. So you are guaranteed to only test your magic lineup against another magic lineup.
Conclusion
This challenge was to look at the challenge system in Splinterlands. I think it's a nice feature and I have used it a few times. I remember visiting some streamers for Splinterlands and they used this to battle with some of the viewers. It lets them engage with the viewers and it could also come with some prizes. The second way that I used this feature was to use a card that I did not have. This was in one of the previous Splinterlands challenges where you were to test out some of the new promo cards. The ghost card features and level caps allow you to design a battle where you can use these cards at whichever level you want to. You don't own the card in this case though so it could also be a good way to test out cards that you might want to buy. The last way to use this is to challenge your friends.
Have you ever used the challenge feature in Splinterlands?
