Every week there is a Splinterlands challenge that can be found in this week's post. I also encourage Splinterlands players to partake in the challenge because they get to learn about the game. In this week's challenge, we explore the lore of the game.
Drybone Barbarian
Drybone Barbarian is part of the Drybone Anarchists, and this is found in the lore page and they control the Drybone Badlands in the Wild Northeast. In this place, it's the survival of the fittest and these Barbarians rely on their strength to dominate anyone who invades their territory.
Drybone Anarchists
After hearing her backstory, I was interested in learning about the structure of Drybone Anarchists. The information about the Drybone Anarchists can be found on the splinterlands lore page. From what I have read, the entire territory is a lawless territory filled with a bunch of different groups. There are no churches and religious organizations and their belief is more about the strength a person or organization has. In other words, "might makes right". The entire world is revolved around the desert and as usual, people fight all the time in this society. Raiding, slavery, and looting are rampant as everyone tries to survive in this lawless society. It is common to have buildings made up of bones due to how harsh things are in society. I am more surprised to see that the minotaurs are not part of the dominant species though.
Story of Drybone Barbarian's past
One thing that stood out to me was the Drybone Coliseum in the lore page for Drybone Anarchists. Based on that, I think the following backstory for the Drybone Barbarian fits. The Drybone Barbarian was originally enslaved and sent to the Drybone Coliseum. In order to survive and eventually become a free person, he had no choice but to enter dangerous fights daily. This explains why they are so strong in physical combat due to how often he fought in the Coliseum and when he was eventually freed, he didn't know any other way to survive. So he became part of a group of raiders and plunderers. He has no qualms about killing people or looting things because of the harsh experience in the Drybone Coliseum.
Conclusion
This challenge was to extend the lore behind an existing character, and I felt like trying out Drybone Barbarian for this topic. I learned a bit about the Drybone Anarchists and it's interesting to see how the society there plays a role in the card's abilities. It makes sense that the harsh and lawless environment led to them being pillagers. I expanded the lore to explain how Drybone Barbarian's skills developed and why he would continue his life there because that is all he knows about. The Coliseum just fits what I know about this card.
What did you think of my addition to the lore?
