Splinterlands is a complex game and it allows for various different cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various different rulesets applied and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle where I won because I used Chimney Wallstop.
Featured cards
Chimney Wallstop is a fire monster that costs 10 mana. It starts with reach and bloodlust. It learns repair at level 5 and strengthen at level 9. I use this card from time to time, but not as often. The downside is the low speed, but the damage and repair can make up for it to an extent. It also works out well as a backup tank.
Rule Set, Battle, and Plan

The ruleset this time is Heavy Armor, Four's a Crowd, and Healed Out. This means that only armored monsters can be used, four monsters can be used, and healing abilities don't work. There is also 45 mana available, and I can use fire, life, or dragon splinter splinter.
Splinter | Mana Cost | Position | Reason |
---|---|---|---|
Eternan Brune | 6 | Summoner | -2 Armor and Gladiator |
Mantaroth | 11 | 1st | Armored Strike, Shield |
Chimney Wallstop | 10 | 2nd | Reach, Bloodlust, and Repair |
Lava Launcher | 9 | 3rd | Close Range and Stun |
Rush Townsend | 9 | 4th | Ambush |
Total Mana: | 45 |
I use Eternan Brune as my summoner for the -2 armor and gladiator. Mantaroth is my tank with shield and armored strike. This is a great tank as it takes reduced melee or ranged damage, and if the armor is still around when it attacks, I will do extra damage. After that is Chimney Wallstop as my backup tank. Lava Launcher is another backup tank but it's there mainly for the damage along with its close range and stun ability. My last monster is Rush Townsend with ambush.
Round 1
At first glance, I think that I have the advantage in this match. My opponent has the level advantage, but Mantaroth will be able to tank quite a few hits while repair can negate one attack every single turn. The only issue is that 2nd monster because it has enrage and retaliate. If I can kill that monster, then I have this match won.
Round 3
I have lost one mosnter, but my opponent has lost 2 monster, and with the repair ability, my opponent can only do 2 damage per turn. So this match is my win due to the damage that I have.
I ended up winning this match a few rounds later, just as I expected.
Conclusion
The battle this time played out exactly how I thought it would. The ruleset limited me to 4 monsters so I went with high mana monsters to make the most of that mana cap. It doesn't help that my options were limited because of the heavy armor ruleset. In the end, Chimney Wallstop was the MVP of this match due to the damage that they did and the repair.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.
