This is such a beautiful flower that I took on my recent photo walk, There was a funny story when I took the photo, and also a little surprised when I learn about it online.
The funny thing when I took the photo was that I was too stupid to charge my battery or bring my backup battery before doing the photowalk, and then it was off when I took the photos of this flower, so I could only get four of them, unfortunately.
The starry red shape at the base of its petals caught my attention. Look at how beautiful it is. The petals are short, making the base look more prominent in the flower.
And then another surprise is when I learn about this flower only. The name is kinda funny, and also to learn that this is native to tropical Asian even more surprising, because at first I thought that this flower was imported from other places, since I think that was the first time I saw them.
This is the Daun Kentut or literally translated to Fart Leaf, is actually Paederia foetida is a species of plant, with common names that are variations of skunkvine, stinkvine, pilau maile (Hawaiian) or Chinese fever vine. It is native to temperate, and tropical Asia; and has become naturalized in the Mascarenes, Melanesia, Polynesia, and the Hawaiian Islands, also found in North America by recent studies. Lucky I just took the photos and didn't disturb or crush the leaf so that I didn't smell the fart from the leaf. At least at that moment I was only admiring their flower.
