Greeting ladies, @ladiesofhive
My contribution to this week’s contest is coming a bit late, but still within the scheduled time. I had a lot of engagements within the week, which made it difficult for me to participate earlier. Am happy that am finally here;
There are many limitations that can stand in the way of starting a business of one’s choice. For many women, these limitations go beyond money or skills; they include time, family responsibilities, health, and the different seasons of life we find ourselves in.
For me, I have always had a deep interest in shoe making and leather works. It was a dream I held quietly in my heart, something I hoped to learn and eventually turn into a business. However, just as this interest began to grow, I had already gotten married, and a few months later, pregnancy followed.
Pregnancy changed everything for me. The signs and symptoms were overwhelming, both physically and emotionally. There were days I could hardly recognize myself, not to talk of starting a business or learning a new craft. I often wondered how I was supposed to chase a dream when my body and mind were fully occupied with bringing new life into the world.
After my baby arrived, life became even more demanding. Motherhood required all of me, my time, strength, patience, and love. Then, again, another pregnancy came. At that point, I realized that I needed to adjust my plans, take things one step at a time, and allow myself to fully nurture my children without guilt or regret.

While this may look like a limitation from the outside, I have come to understand that it is also part of my purpose as a woman and a mother. Not every season is meant for building a business; some seasons are meant for building people.
Being a woman means learning to balance dreams with responsibilities. It means understanding that delays do not mean denial. My dream of learning shoe making and leather works is still alive, it is simply waiting for the right time. Until then, I choose patience and gratitude for the beautiful season I am in.
