Good day, people of Hive! Welcome to my blog. Today’s topic is from Ladies of Hive. So, let’s dive in.
Honestly, gratitude, to me, is simply appreciating life as it is. It’s not about having a perfect life, it’s about recognizing that being alive alone is a big blessing. When I say I practice a grateful living approach, I don’t mean I’m living a life with everything I want. No, it simply means that every day, I choose to focus on the good in my life instead of complaining about what is missing.
I am deeply thankful to God for keeping me alive up till this moment. Life can be unpredictable. Every day we hear how some people slept at night and never woke up. Some are in pain, some are admitted to the hospital battling for their lives, but here I am strong, breathing freely without oxygen. Here I am, not admitted in the hospital collecting drip or blood. That alone is a blessing I cannot ignore. Honestly, me being alive today is not by my power, might, or mercy, but by the grace of God. If we go to the hospital now, we will see different people with different diseases and illnesses. Some have their hands and legs hanging, some are eating through drip, some have to be carried before they can eat or bathe, but here I am eating freely without anyone feeding me, eating freely without any doctor telling me what to eat or not to eat. This alone shows how grateful I am. I’m grateful to God for keeping me alive despite all I have done. I will never take it for granted.

I am also grateful for everything I have right now, including things I do not have yet, whether big or small. This may sound strange, but I have come to understand through my sister that not having something at a certain time doesn’t mean I have failed. It simply means God is preparing something big and better for me. So instead of worrying or complaining, I choose to be thankful in advance. Honestly, what people don’t know is that gratitude has a way of opening doors, because when you appreciate the little that God has done for you, the big will come.
Another thing that people don’t understand is that if God does something little for us and we show no heart of gratitude, He will be sad and may even refuse to do it for us again. But if we show a heart of gratitude when God does something little for us, that’s when He will open doors of big favour for us that will surprise us, because God rewards a grateful heart.
There are days when things don’t go the way I planned. That’s why the Bible says in Proverbs 16 verse 9: "We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps". God is unpredictable. We can say we won’t go out today, and later something happens that calls our attention to go out. There are times when I feel delayed, or when my prayers seem unanswered. In the past, this would make me feel upset and sad, but now I see things differently as I am coming closer to God. Gratitude has taught me that delays are not denials and that every challenge carries a lesson.
When I start to feel worried or stressed, I remind myself of the good things I already have, and that alone gives me strength. Gratitude helps me see reasons to smile even on days that are not perfect.
In conclusion, I do practice a grateful living approach. It’s not because everything in my life is perfect, but because I have choosen to appreciate where I am and trust God for where I am going. Today and every day, I am grateful for life, for my health, for my family, and for my academics. And I believe that as long as I keep a grateful heart, more blessings will continue to follow me.
