I Didn’t Inherit Her Face, I Inherited Her Heart. — LOH#302

In my family, I would say I look mostly like my mom. Not the physique and facial look way, though. Even though some argued that I look like her, I very well know I have siblings who look more like her. More like they took her exact face. But when it comes to things like being caring, being hardworking, checking up on people, helping, being patient, and all that, I can very well say I took after her in all of those aspects.

I didn't know that at first; it was later I realized I'd picked up a lot of things from her that I ever knew. I've got a lot of accusations from people who say I don't act manly and that I act too girlish... Well, this is just who I am. My mom has a very big heart, and I got that from her. She's someone who would give even when she's having very little; she will always try her best to be of help even when she's tired. And I've found myself doing exactly the same.

So, when someone who knows my mom tells me I'm just like my mom, I would just smile. Because I very well know they are not referring to my physique and all, they are talking about the attributes and characters my mom possesses. It was from her I learned that giving up is never an option. And I know I'm still not as much of a good person as she is; even still, I'm proud of myself.

Also, about my dream job and what I'm doing today... Huhm, that's huge. I actually had a lot of dreams while growing up. There was a time I wanted to become a doctor; I remember a time when I was considering being a lawyer too, and then again I wanted to become a soldier. And I have my reasons for all of that; I love how doctors were like superheroes, helping people, saving lives, and all. I also love lawyers being able to stand up to defend a case and allow justice to be served and soldiers to be honest. I love them especially for the respect they command.

But then, as we well know, life will always have its own plans. I may not be helping defend a case, or caring for a patient in the hospital, but what I'm doing can be seen as a great service to and helping humanity too.

At the moment, I'm currently serving as a teacher; I stand in front of students to teach, explain, and make them understand that which I'm teaching them. I also take my time to attend to students who need help, advice, and some form of encouragement. Now, I can still see some connections or similarities in what I wanted from them and what I'm into now. Then I wanted to help and care for people, and that's what I'm doing now too. Just that I'm not doing it in a courtroom or hospital but in a classroom.
