I want a little house with a garden | LOH # 244 [ENG/ESP]

in Ladies of Hivelast month

There's a line from an anime I really like called "Nana," where one of the main characters says her dream is to have a little house with a garden, and that it's her goal. And whenever I think about my goals, this line is always with me, except it changes a bit. Instead of a garden, I want a vegetable garden, a small house without a lot of things, but with a garden where I can plant and have vegetation, and, above all, where it's very peaceful.

And it's not that I don't like a garden; it's just that in my mind, a garden is more for flowering, medicinal, or ornamental plants, and a vegetable garden is more of a space to cultivate the soil, enriching it to obtain its fruits. I've always liked that, as I learned it from my grandmother and my uncles. I've always grown up watching them plant where they live, and they've made the place a space full of fruits or various foods in season. Although I haven't participated in these plantings myself, it's always caught my attention.

Besides requiring constant effort and responsibility, it's also something that's fun and generates many moments of laughter. For example, during the years I spent vacations there or lived with them, I used to spend the night, like a ghost, during corn season before going to university or work, searching for corn or other crops to make my lunch. Or, if not, to spend time with my grandmother, eating some fruit like papaya or watermelon that my uncles brought from a crop they have, or even the corn itself to tell anecdotes while we prepared it.

It's always been something I've enjoyed, even though my sister and I have always gone to the small mulberry tree since we were little, to look for it and share a few laughs and gossip while we eat (even though she's quite young compared to her years). And by wanting a garden, I wouldn't just plant to harvest fruit, but I'd also be able to have those medicinal plants that I've also grown alongside my grandmother whenever I get sick, so it's definitely one of my goals.

So, beyond wanting to plant for resources, I think about what this generates, which is that sharing with family or some fun competition, like my uncles every time a mango falls and they go see who gets it. That's why I've always dreamed of that small space where it might not be so big, since I want something simple, but where I can put into practice everything I've learned from my uncles and grandmother over the years and at the same time create my own memories to share with my family.

So, well, this is my small contribution regarding one of the questions posed by @marivic10 for this weekly dynamic, and I was able to take advantage of it to share a little bit about that dream about where I want to be.

Thank you so much for reading this post.

I also learned a lot about plants from my grandmother. Her way of caring for them and giving them love is wonderful. I hope one day you can have your own garden, my friend. Greetings and blessings.

It sounds lovely! I think a home isn't quite a home without a garden of some variety. Thank you for sharing and have a lovely day!
