The reality of a dream - LOH contest week #264 / La realidad de un sueño - concurso LOH semana #264 (eng-esp)

Hello, my friends.

Our friend @jane1289 gives me the opportunity to talk again about a topic I'm passionate about, a dream come true. That dream, which I'm very proud of, is becoming a writer.

source

Since I was a child, that was my clear goal. It wasn't a vague fantasy; it was a certainty. I avidly read every book I could get my hands on. I remember reading The Black Corsair when I was nine and Frankenstein when I was ten. By twelve, I was already reading Poe. My reading habit wasn't just a pastime; It was training. I was always an avid reader because, without realizing it, I was studying the craft I wanted to pursue.

I always wanted to tell my own stories. The problem was that, as a child, no adult wanted to listen to or read the horror stories I wrote. I loved the genre, but I ran into the barrier of a false cliché: that girls couldn't write about it. That limitation, imposed by others, didn't extinguish my interest. It only made it more personal. Today, being a horror writer is, in part, a response to those who tried to pigeonhole me.

The path to realizing this dream took a practical turn when I became a mother. That's when I started writing children's literature. Now, I'm incredibly proud to be able to create my own stories for my children. Of course, I also read them the classics, but that's precisely one of the greatest advantages of having achieved my dream: the ability to create my own stories, to give my children something that came directly from me. This is the concrete result of a dream: freedom and the ability to build something of one's own.

fuente

Ahora, me enorgullece enormemente poder crearle mis propios cuentos a mis hijos.

You were reading Edgar Allen Poe by the age of twelve. I still read Poe. !Lol.

But the Raven still beguiling all my fancy into smiling,
Straight I wheeled a cushioned seat in front of bird, and bust and door;
Then upon the velvet sinking, I betook myself to linking
Fancy unto fancy, thinking what this ominous bird of yore-
What this grim, ungainly, ghastly, gaunt and ominous bird of yore
Meant in croaking "Nevermore."

Before I got distracted by Hive, I was deep into historical romances. Some horror, a little bit in Fantasy and the supernatural. I still have a bookshelf full of old paperbacks.
