In my current life, I can talk more about music books than literature; and there's a lot of literature out there.
Today I'm here to share about one of those books, a biography, to be exact. I'm referring to the biography of the magnificent dancer Isadora Duncan.
Isadora Duncan was a woman who marked a before and after in art and in life itself. I'm not just referring to ballet, which she completely revolutionized, no. I'm referring to all of art. Isadora Duncan showed that we need to break free from conventional constraints and liberate ourselves when creating.
Isadora demonstrated that we ourselves define our own limits.
And she did this as a 19th-century woman. She did it in an era when women could do little, or almost nothing.
Reading about all that Isadora Duncan suffered and all the adversities she faced... Her triumph as a woman from another era made me think about several things.
First, that many of today's problems have their roots in the past. Perhaps not exactly the same, but very similar.
Another thing happened to me while reading her biography; at times, it felt like I was reading something contemporary, because of what I mentioned. And, being so, the strength of this artist to overcome the conventions of her time was truly impressive.
However, remembering that we're talking about the late 19th and early 20th centuries makes me think that what she did is even more remarkable.
It makes her an impressive woman.
Therefore, for an artist like me, there are no excuses to stop creating. Isadora Duncan did so much for what she believed in, to improve her performances, and she revolutionized ballet. I can do it too. Or at the very least, I can honor her, not only as an artist, but as a female artist of my time. And that's what I intend to do with each of my performances.

En mi vida actual puedo hablar más sobre libros de música que de literatura; y eso que hay mucha, pero mucha literatura.
Hoy vengo a compartir sobre uno de esos libros, una biografía, exactamente. Me refiero aa biografía de la magnífica bailarina Isadora Duncan.
Isadora Duncan fue una mujer que marcó un antes y un después en el arte y en la vida como tal. No me refiero solo al ballet, el cual revolucionó totalmente, no. Me refiero a todo el arte. Isadora Duncan mostró que necesitamos quitarnos las ataduras a lo convencional y liberarnos a la hora de crear.
Isadora demostró que somos nosostros mismos los que marcamos nuestros límites.
Y eso lo hizo siendo una mujer del siglo 19. Lo hizo en una época en que las mujeres podían hacer poco, o casi nada.
Al leer todo lo que sufrió Isadora Duncan y todas las adversidades que venció siendo una mujer de otra época, me hizo pensar en varias cosas.
La primera, que muchos de los problemas de estos tiempos, vienen desde mucho atrás. Quizás no exactamente los mismos, pero sí muy similares.
Hay otra cosa que me sucedió cuando leía la biografía, en ocasiones me pareció que leía algo actual, debido a esto que les decía. Y, siendo así, era impresionante la fuerza de esta artista para vencer los convencionalismos de la época.
Sin embargo, al recordar que hablamos de finales del siglo 19 e inicios del 20, eso me hace pensar en que tiene aún más valor lo que hizo.
La hace una mujer impresionante.
Por tanto, para una artista como yo no hay justificaciones para dejar de crear. Isadora Duncan hizo tanto y tanto por lo que creía, para mejorar sus interpretaciones y revolucionó el ballet. Yo puedo hacerlo también. O, cuando menos, puedo honrarla, no solo como artista, sino como mujer artista de mi tiempo. Y eso pretendo hacer con cada una de mis presentaciones.
