Parenting is not an easy task at all, I am sure at this point, we can all agree that this can never be overemphasized. Bringing up a child cuts across so many things. You have to instill some values in them, do things they can emulate from you, correct them, teach them the way to live, listen to them, and so much more. Parenting styles also differ and this makes children turn out differently. As a parent, I believe that there are some traits that are very important to possess in the process of bringing up a child. I will talk about three, as requested in the prompt
1. UNDERSTANDING AND EMPATHY
A parent should be very understanding and empathetic towards their children, so as to always be a safe space for them. When correcting a child, it should be done out of love and with love. If parents always blame their children and scold them too strictly when they make mistakes, it can lead to a child hiding. They will hide because they will no longer feel comfortable telling their parents about their imperfections because they will feel the parents will never understand. Correcting a child doesn't have to come from a judgemental place, anyone and everyone makes mistakes.
2. ATTENTIVENESS
Parents should be able to pay close attention to details. A parent should actually know a child to a certain level and when some changes occur, it should be carefully looked into. If not, these things might affect them while they grow up. We have seen so many cases of grown up telling their stories about childhood traumas and how it shaped their personalities. Imagine a child that used to be very happy and bright suddenly become shy, introverted and dull. Such a case should be carefully checked and no assumptions should be made. Parents should always be available for their children in all ways possible and make them realize they are never alone.

3. EQUALITY
Regardless of the fact that a number of children comes from the same family, there will always be some differences between them. I have heard a lot of stories where parents love a child more than the others, and even make it obvious. Sometimes, I wonder if it's possible for parents to love their children equally regardless of the qualities each child possess. I mean, some people are naturally more likable than others. I am not a parent yet so I do wonder if parents just do a good job at hiding who their favorite is, or if they are capable of loving equally.
Anyhow it is, parents should not show love to one child more than the other. It can ruin a child's self esteem and can even build up enmity between children. Parents should always find a way to balance that love between all their children, it is very important.
