Yeah I can already hear some people judging that answer. In short, I almost feel the need to cover my face while writing this because i know it sounds kinda selfish. Out of all the possibilities in the world, world peace, ending hunger, curing diseases, gaining superpowers, I chose money, but the more I think about it, im like heyyy!, that is my wish. Maybe, just maybe my answer comes from the way I grew up, and the environment i grew up in, i mean when you come from a place of limited resources, money is never just money. It is peace of mind, It is the difference between worrying about tomorrow and being able to enjoy today. People who have never had to think twice before buying essentials things to survive may not fully understand the burden that financial struggles create.
I actually gave this wish some serious thought, its not something that i said off the top of my mind, cos at first, I considered wishing for infinite knowledge, or ability to grant more wishes, or be like superman and stop all wars and those are noble wishes. I must agree but trying to control human beings if i go buy the many movies i watch is anything to go about. It never ends well.
With unlimited financial security, I would never have to worry about paying bills, or supporting family members when they need help. With money you become a better friend, a better husband, a better uncle etc. I could invest in businesses, fund projects I believe i, fund peace even, travel to places I have always wanted to see, and spend more time doing meaningful work instead of constantly thinking about survival.
Of course, I know money cannot buy everything. It cannot guarantee happiness, at least thats what the rich people say, ill come back to this after i become rich though. Wealthy people still have problems, i know but I would much rather face life's unavoidable challenges without the added burden of financial stress.
So yes, if a genie appeared before me and offered only one wish, I would choose unlimited financial security. Call it selfish if you want, but I see it differently. I see it as choosing freedom, the freedom to to live life without constantly worrying about whether there will be enough tomorrow.
