I always say that entertainment shouldn’t come with having to use the brain, and my brothers always disagree with me because of their video games which require a lot of thinking. But just hear me out. I believe the purpose of entertainment is basically to release stress, and that automatically is linked to relaxing the brain. So in this case, anything that has to do with me using my brain is just a no for me.
And that brings me to the first question for the LOH contest. I have this lowkey habit of reading books, and they happen too fast. Oh, it’s lowkey because I found out that 99% of the time, I always have different thoughts about a book, and it makes me feel weird. So I just rather choose not to share those thoughts or even discuss it with people. The last book I read was about 300 pages, and I devoured it in just a day. And that meant full use of my brain.
In short, everything about reading is just full use of the brain, and that is a no-no for me which means it doesn’t qualify for entertainment in anyway.
Movies are a bit different for me, and I sometimes wonder how people watch movies and feel refreshed. Because anytime I finish watching a movie, I’m always so worked up. Either the plot was over-twisted and the turns were super unexpected, or I’m so confused. There's nothing entertaining about that. It’s even worse when the movies follow me to my dreams.
Now that I think of it, maybe it’s the type of movies I watch. They require my full attention and full brain to comprehend whatever is going on. This just reminded me of my cinema experience where I was so alert after the movie because, throughout that horror movie, I was so scared. I didn’t enjoy the experience, and it just wasn’t entertaining for me.
What I actually do to get entertained is to dance. I know. I know. Most people don’t know that I can dance, and if I had a dollar for each time someone got shocked after hearing this, I’d probably be a billionaire. I love dancing, and those body movements make me very happy. The most important thing is I don’t need to think of what I want to do before I do it, I just have to move my body. See? 100% brain-free.
Sometimes when I’m sad around my circle, they just play music, knowing very well I’ll definitely dance and be okay in the end. Also, as someone who hates physical exercise, I believe dancing is the only way out for me, as it helps me work out my muscles and joints.
One thing about me is that the moment I get bored, you’ll find me dancing, and I’ve realized that it just has a way of putting smiles on the faces of the people around me. Except for official purposes, put me in a room full of people I’m comfortable around and see me take the mood from zero to 100 with my dance steps.
