In the words of the elder statesman and philosopher, Sir Francis Bacon, “knowledge itself is power”
Sometimes, people become arrogant, powerful, impactful, versatile or destructive owing to their level of knowledge. Truly, Knowledge can be impactful or destructive when wrongly applied.
Through knowledge, the Wright brothers, Orville and Wilbur Wright, invented the aeroplane, and Thomas Edison invented the electric light bulb. The list can go on. Indeed, knowledge has transformed and made the world a better place.
In contrast, scammers are using the knowledge of tech they acquired to scam and dupe people of their hard-earned resources, even on blockchains.
As a consultant, my knowledge of SWOT analysis documentation and effective communication has helped me navigate my career path. It has helped me provide excellent service to my clients and resolve organisational challenges at 79% to 89% ratio.
- S=Strengths
- W=Weaknesses
- O=Opportunities
- T=Threats
The Circumstances Under Which I Utilised SWOT Analysis
I acquired the knowledge about SWOT Analysis in 2019 when the need for re-evaluation of our organisation arose due to an economic meltdown that led to an impromptu restructuring. Three consultants were contacted for a quote to do the job; however, they returned with outrageous bills. As a result, management decided to send three of the management staff, including me, for the training. We returned with outstanding results and performed the job.

Since then, my prowess in analysing organisational challenges and proffering solutions has incredibly improved. Secondly, my performance scorecard has never been less than 89%. Furthermore, it has taught me that established business analysis processes are to be diligently followed before starting a new business. That is to say that before launching a business, there is a need to evaluate the competitive advantage of the business vis-à-vis the established ones. This includes comparing the strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities of the start-up side by side with the existing ones. This will enable the business to prepare well and ward off any unnecessary competition in the environment. Besides, it will help the business to leverage the weaknesses of the existing ones to build on its strengths. Again, it will help the new firm to consider existing opportunities to carve out its niche and, lastly, create awareness of the threats in the environment to guide and guard the business. These threats may be micro or macro.
Additionally, effective communication and documentation have helped me continuously to achieve organisational goals. By clearly communicating my intentions, purposes and documenting these activities at any given time,
Ultimately, being knowledgeable about SWOT Analysis, communication, and documentation has empowered me to achieve my personal and organisational goals on time. It has also saved me in the days of adversity.
