When Friends Crash Your Call!

in The Comedy Clubyesterday

So, I met this guy through a friend in school, and it was strictly for job purposes. I clarified to my friend that if he ever made an advance to me, I would cut him off.

"Are you serious, right now?" Mariam asked, and I was speechless for a few seconds because it looked like I was feeling too high.

"Yes, I am. I don't want rubbish like the other time," I stuttered, turning away from her to laugh at myself.

"You better laugh very because you are not serious. Someone wants to give you a sweet birthday job and you are already bragging. I see you finished ooo," She replied, and we both started laughing.

"But on a serious note, I really don't want him crossing his limit. Let's keep it strictly business," I pleaded because Mariam introduced us, and she could put him in his place.

I really didn't want to be rude to anyone because I can be when people cross their limits with me and it happens too often with male clients.

"That reminds me, are we still meeting him tomorrow morning?" I asked Mariam who was already preparing to go out.

"We? Are we spending the profit together?" She muttered.

"I thought we were supposed to meet your friend tomorrow for planning," I replied.

"I won't be around tomorrow morning so you are going alone," She replied.

"Let's just leave it then," I replied, sharply.

"Are you sure everything is fine? You don't seem well Bee," She replied and came to touch my neck.

"What's that?" I moved my neck back, giving her a death stare.

"Just checking if you have malaria? Because I don't know why you can't meet the client I introduced to you without me present," She replied, and while I was still talking, she bid me goodbye.

Mariam has been a good friend, but her lifestyle was something else, and I doubt if she meets normal humans.

Sometimes, I ask myself if I am normal, too, because how on earth did we become friends?

She has given me good jobs, connecting me to her friends, but they always make advance to me in the end, which makes me uncomfortable dealing with them.

I was still thinking about what to do when she sent me a text, "He wants to hold the meeting via video call because he won't be available tomorrow as well."

I felt happy instantly and asked for the time which was later in the evening that same day.

Looking good is one of my secrets to impress clients even before the job, so I immediately took one of my wigs, brushed it, and put it aside.

Some minutes before the scheduled time, I wore a big polo and just left the boxers I had on since all he would see was my face. I wore the wig and was looking like one boss lady.

The guy must be a punctual person because at exactly 4pm, he called, and I sighed heavily before picking up.

"Good evening," I greeted immediately. His face appeared on the screen, and he wasn't the only one. There were three other guys there.

"Good evening," He replied, and this guy didn't just look but also sounded responsible compared to other Mariam friends had met.

"Thanks for having this meeting with me via video call, I went out of town with my friends. I hope you are good with this," He asked.

"Yes, it's okay. So what's the plan?" I asked, and the conversation went on for a few minutes before someone started knocking on my door.

"Who could that be?" I thought, but I didn't want to interrupt the call and just continued with the conversation.

The person didn't stop knocking and I excused myself immediately to get the door. Immediately, I stood from the chair, and I heard my client and his friends burst into laughter.

"My boxers," I stuttered and just went to get the door out of annoyance and embarrassment.

Upon opening the door, it was Kemi. Another friend I wasn't even expecting.

"I am in the middle of something," I said to Kemi immediately after I opened the door and turned around, heading back the the meeting.

Kemi walked behind me and did the unexpected. Immediately, I sat down; she pulled my wig and asked why I was wearing a wig inside.

"Is there a rule that says a wig must be worn outdoors," I screamed at her, snatching my wig back.

"Who are you talking to? I go love ooo," She teased, peeping at my phone behind me. It was then I realized that I was still on a call.

"Oh shit," I stuttered, covering my small head with the wig immediately. I faked a smile and they just couldn't stop laughing.

My client had a good laugh with his friends and I felt embarrassed. In my heart, I felt like strangling Kemi and I don't blame her because that's how we roll. We do silly things to each other so we can't get angry for too long.

The little drama didn't affect my job and it even made our conversation after really fun.

Sort:

I saw myself in Kemi's position, shouting endless 'God whennnnnnnnn!' with 'awnnnnnn' on the background 😅

The fact that you wore your wig and maybe added a little make up, authenticates the truth that ladies do make up before video calls😅

Dressing up for video calls is a general thing for us, I read it from another post too. We always want to look good because your gender loves taking screenshots during video call. Can't be caught unfresh. laughing

Hmmmmm
I haven't experienced it though.
The people I make video calls with are married people and they don't care

That was a close call because some clients would have cancelled and made one silly claim.

Since you know your friend well, you shouldn't be too mad at her. In fact, you should get her malt drink since she made the conversation lively 😂
