Two's Company Three's A Crowd ~ Raven Style

I am sure you have heard the common saying...

Two's company Three's a Crowd

Well in today's post we are heading to the seaside and a tail about three ravens!!

Tail / Tale get it ... don't you just love the English language!

I live on the coast and the beach is a ten minute walk from home. We have a promenade as well as the beach itself.

If you have seen the park that I live close to, then you might know or have seen me show photographs of the local stream or burn that flows into the sea.

The pictures in this post were all taken on March 15th 2025. Four images were used to make the lead image on Canva and at the bottom of the post is a gif that was created by my google photos AI.

That burn is the Teal Burn.

In the background you can see the railings on the promenade.

The two ravens are standing on a concrete block which was part of the war defenses for World War 2. The blocks were put on beaches to stop German tanks invading.

They now are also used to stop the erosion of the little sand cliffs that are on this side of the beach.

I see you!

If you look at the differences in the two pictures, you can see that in the picture below the raven is ducking down as if to see who has the audacity to share the block!

What a Racket!

Holy moly what racket a wee bird can make!

You guessed the block was indeed invaded by a third raven.

After the perfect landing, the third raven started to make its way up the angled concrete block.

Meanwhile the noisy raven was still at it!

Yes we all fluffing heard you!

The intruder climbed the summit and a semblance of normality was restored!

However the newest raven on the block was doing the looking down as if to see if an intruder was coming!

Even the first raven was interested now!

Look out! Noisy is even having a look!

So far so good

They all completed their surveillance and no new ravens were incoming, so noisy had to keep his beak shut!

Remember I said about the cliffs on the other side of the beach. Well they had a watcher!

This post though, is an entry for this week's Feathered Friends - Show Me A Photo Contest Round 210 hosted by the wonderful @nelinoeva in the fantastic Feathered Friends community on Hive.

Before I choose my picture for the competition entry I thought I would have some fun and make a wee gif from four of the photographs!

I think it turned out really well as not only did it show Noisy and the landing of the intruding raven but it showed two of the ravens in the background on the promenade!

Don't you just love fun things, and doing fun things. When something is fun, we do it for longer. This applies to Hive, make it fun and you will enjoy it!
image.png

And I shall pick this one for the entry

A Double Action Shot
Not only was Noisy captured with head tilted to the heavens and its beak parted for the howling but we captured the action landing of the intruder on the block with wings spread and eyes looking where he is going!

What do you think? Was that your favourite?

Thanks for visiting and enjoy the rest of your day!

It's almost a bit scary how aggressive birds can get. I've never really had a problem with them, but I can understand why that movie The Birds was so scary for some people!

Yes We went to a small island last year which has no people and is a bird sanctuary. It was breeding season and man I have neved had my head bitten so much by swooping birds Yes I can see why people can be afraid and why Hitchcock's Birds was naturally scary for some!

Oh yeah, I don't really mind birds, but if they start biting me then all bets are off!

😂

I enjoyed reading and it's fun how you characterized the Raven in your story.

Yeah I like to tell a story rather just post a picture. thank you

At first I was confused is Raven and Hawk are the same 😂😆. Almost but google says No!

Just the black color I think.

Well hawks are birds of prey and fluffing fast and attack and swoop down! Ravens are like amateur birds and hawks are professional lol!

Haha, watching like a hawk 😆

Quite an entertaining post man😂✨

The three ravens...✨

Am glad you were entertained!

Haha, I can't help feeling the noisy raven is saying, "Where the hell have you been? We said three o' clock!" "Sorry, mate, had to pick up some worms for the young'uns" or "There was a tasty bit of roadkill. Rude not to, benefits from heaven and that." 😂

hahaha I like the roadkill one 🤣

Hey @tengolotodo you are welcome.
Thanks for using @worldmappin 😘

Threesomes sometimes work! As it turned out in the end. Why all the fuss if in the end I was going to end up accepting the other one. I liked your gif and your image for the entry. That's what I call being on target. I send you a hug, my friend.

Thank you Nancy, and you are totally correct sometimes threesomes do work!!!
But yes fuss and then silence lol unless it was calling it in the first place!
Thank you, the gif was fun. Sending you a cooling hug to Venezuela :)

Some great shots there! Ravens can be fun to watch. That was a great piece of animation you put together from the subsequent shots.
!BBH

Yeah they are fun, usually I see them on the beach destroying rubbish that humans have littered!
The gif was fun to do and it was google that suggested it!

The way it turns it's head to check for intruder😁😂. Or it was checking on you😛😌.

Hehe yeah knowing the noise it made earlier, it could have been checking on me 🤣

You nailed it with the entry photo, the action is so well captured.
