Hello Hello to all Hivians and indeed anyone reading this.
Today I shall be telling you a wee story about a Rook and as you probably guessed from the post title and Burker King.
Before we proceed I hasten to add that we are not talking about the chess piece but rather the feathered variety!
The pictures in this post were all taken on May 7th 2025. Three pictures were used to make the lead image for this post on Canva.
One sunny day a couple of weeks ago I was out enjoying the sunshine and popped in to a bar to enjoy a pint of beer.
Being such a glorious day I sat outside and viewed the scenery.
As I was watching the world go by I spied someone on the road, well it was the rook below.
Can you see the red on the right side of the photograph?
Well he was heading that way to investigate!
First though was checking the ground, perhaps he was seeing if there were worms!
Fun Fact
Rooks have very good memories and will bury food – a behaviour known as ‘caching’ – then return later to retrieve their snack.
Thanks to the RSPB Rooks page for that fun wee fact!
So perhaps he was seeing if this was a suitable place to bury his Burger King haul!
He got back to the job in hand and carried on...
The red prey is in sight!
I had to zoom in to see what was going on.
But they were red chip boxes I think from Burger King. Where we were sitting is not far from a retail park which has a Burger King.
Bloody litter louts, just put your trash in a bin!
Rook on Alert
I had noticed a change in the rook's behaviour.
So looking across the road to see what he was looking at..I saw ...
Predator Alert!
Yes it was our friendly ginger pussy cat, who was not interested in the rook.
Making one more check to make sure the cat was not a threat.
Meal Time!
So he got stuck right in, I don't know if there was much in there apart from the chip ends, but he was having fun!
Shake it all about!
It was fun watching him as he was intent on getting all the goodies from those Burger King fries boxes!
The view from the top of the hill where I was, with the rook and red chip boxes.
This post though, is an entry for this week's Feathered Friends - Show Me A Photo Contest Round 219 hosted by the wonderful @nelinoeva in the fantastic Feathered Friends community on Hive.

And I shall pick this one for the entry
A wee action shot
I like this was as not only does it show his feathered ‘pantaloons’ on his legs which rooks are famous for, but also his beak open and getting ready to grab those Burger King crumbs.
What do you think? Was that your favourite?
Thanks for visiting and enjoy the rest of your day!
