Swan Family Feeding Time

Hello Hello to all Hivians and indeed anyone reading this.

Today I shall be telling you a wee story about two wee cygnets or baby swans...

Before we proceed I hasten to add that no cygnets were harmed in the production of this post!

The pictures in this post were all taken on Saturday June 21st 2025. Some of these pictures were used to make the lead image for this post on Canva by the author.

I wanted to make a quick detour to our local park on the way to a supermarket that Mrs T wanted to visit.

It was my trade off, so of course I took some duck and swan pellet food with me.

Ducks no swans....

I was mobbed by the mallards and they were fluffing starving. Normally they will just eat from the water, but some of them were straight out of the water wanting fed at my feet.

Peter the Pomeranian duck keeping an eye on the swans

You can see the swans finally made their way over from the other side of the pond.

Peter the cousin of Dafty the Pomeranian duck was keeping his eye on them, you can see them down in the bottom right corner.

Peter telling them, yep it's here...

One head two bodies!

This year there have been four cygnets that have made it to this size.

I don't know how many there were originally but am still happy to see 4.

These 2 were at mum and dad's side.

image.png

I am sure Mum does this, am I doing it right?

They have still got their chick fluffy feathers are darn cute, but they are growing fast!

Is this real, or a photo glitch?

I have looked at this photo for fluffing ages.

All the pics are by me and apart from the odd rotation of a picture there is no real editing or photoshopping done by me...

Where is his bill?

Wee one on a mission....

Parent and Child
That was a tricky choice to make. There were others I could have chosen.

But I like this one with the adult swan keeping an eye on the other cygnet and perhaps me too!

The little has some weeds in his mouth and paddling away all happy.

What do you think? Was that your favourite?

Thanks for visiting and enjoy the rest of your day!

Thanks for using @worldmappin 😘

It's my pleasure :)

We used to go and see the baby cygnets in Wells, UK, in the moat there. So lovely. Did you know that in Australia we have black swans?

There are cute wee fluffers. In Australia yes I saw some black swans on the Swan river when I was in Perth on business a couple of times. If I remember they might have been the state bird. They really are gorgeous birds.

Nice baby and mumma, good luck with contest.

They are so darn cute! Thank you :)

They are so adorable 😁. Like a child that wants to play and explore.

hehe that is exactly what they are like, children will be children.

In all species, parents keep an eye on their offspring to keep them out of trouble. I liked the pictures and the story you were telling through them. Hug like a swan's neck.🦢

Thank you Nancy, you tell wonderful stories with words, I try to tell a story with pictures hehe. A delightful long necked hug to you today :)

Whose duck is Peter? You gave it a name? That dad is just being a dad, like a human. They're cute! Love the photos.

Peter is a wild duck, they all are hehe I name them all and make up stories with photos :)

Wahhh, why they are all so beautiful. Feels like observing then is a lot of fun even though they are just swimming or walking. And your entry here is so pretty and warm. A parent and a child ha ✨❤️

Yeah they are always fun to see. And they are all characters and they were little shits, chasing each other away to get to food or try and eat my shoes 🤣

Great photos. They are so funny.

Thank you, animals are great and when you look at them, they can be so funny and it is fun to tell a story with them!

It’s better to spend time among familiar ducks and baby swans, they’re like family… Names like Peter the Pomeranian inspire a real sense of trust.
