Bald Eagle Nest

When my family was here this past weekend they went out to see if they could get any photos of the baby bald eagles.

There are two nests that are near to me along the Rock River, although neither one is very approachable for photos. Can you see large stick structure.,(which can be 5–6 feet wide) in the crook of one of the tall trees. This is as close as you can get, but the camera zoom brings it a little closer.

Each nest appears to have 3 baby eagles that hatched at the end of April

They are among the fastest-growing birds in North America. An eaglet can gain up to several ounces a day, reaching nearly adult size in just 10 to 12 weeks.
>Both parents share the responsibility of feeding the hatchling. They meticulously tear small, bite-sized pieces of fish or small mammals to offer to the chick.

Their heads appear to be all beak at this stage!

The fledglngs will leave the nest between 10-13 weeks.

In between food gathering trips the adults remain close to the nest.

That is so cool to even have a couple that close. They prefer to stay away from people, not being stupid animals! Absolutely gorgeous pictures, I love them!

Bird watchers are warned to stay a football fields length away from an active eagle nest so as not to cause them to abandon their hatchlings.

With 3 hatchlings in each nest we will see many more eagles around here later this summer!

Thanks so much for the curation!

Good to know, I thought those eagles used holes in the mountains to lay eggs. Is that the eagle on the usd dollar, isn't it? Good post.

It is the national bird and is on much of the US currency.. Conservation efforts have brought it back from the brink of extinction.

Excellent conservation program then.

I hardly see any eagle now here in my place, I remember I saw them flying high up when I was still a kid.
They were considered a pest as sometime they eat and kill chickens.

So happy that you can still find them in nature there.

In the United States, eagles are strictly protected under the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act. It is a federal crime to shoot, trap, harm, or interfere with an eagle, even if it is actively attacking your livestock. Protection must rely entirely on prevention and physical barriers., like chicken runs covered with netting.

Wow! What an amazing view. Yesterday, while I was eating at a golf course, sparrows kept coming back and forth to my table. I forgot to capture it, however, it feels so good that they are there for a moment.

Watching birds is always entertaining!

Wow, it is so interesting to know how these birds carefully build and maintain their nest high up in tall trees just to protect their young ones.

Because eagles return to the same nest year after year—adding new sticks, moss, and grass each season—they can become gargantuan. The largest recorded bald eagle nest was found in St. Petersburg, Florida; it measured 9.5 feet in diameter, 20 feet deep, and weighed over 2 tons (4,400 lbs).

Woah, this is very informative 👏
A bird. Having such massive capacity to develop such massive nest.
Humm. This is interesting 🤔

Amazing. Thanks for this information, I will definitely share it with my children.

What a great shot with excellent timing. This little guy looks like it's ready for freedom.

Thanks! He has some growing to do first!

They must be very protective of their young; I have a lot of respect for eagles. That’s some interesting information you’ve shared with us. Best regards.

If the nest becomes bothered by people they may abandon the babies. Bird watchers advise everyone to remain at least 900 meters away.

It seems like you've invested a good amount in your photographic skills, nice one!👍

Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed the photos!

Woah , Bskd eagle birds. I thought is only chickens that have this bald species 🤔

The last picture looks like tbe bird wore eye glasses. !LOLZ

Just learnt something today about birds gaining weight wirhin few weeks of birth delving into adulthood 🙃 😅
