Argentines witnessed something amazing last week: the government’s first budget surplus in nearly a dozen years.

I don't think it's so much that there is some grand conspiracy to hide the truth (at least in this case). It is just that the vast majority of the popular media is run by individuals of a certain political persuasion. Everybody has their biases but when the biggest media sources all have the same biases, it can really skew how information is presented. It used to be that those calling themselves journalists used to at least try to report on things impartially. That no longer really seems to be the case. An alternate view point these days is considered "fake news" and this is a form of speech that must be suppressed at all costs. There seems to be no room for honestly discussing or debating anything.
As far as Argentina goes, time will tell if Javier Milei's policies improves the economic conditions. I think they will though it depends on if he sticks with those policies or not. It's not like improvement will be instantaneous and there is certain to be some pain. At the very least, he isn't putting future generations into more debt. He's definitely right about one thing. The main leaders of the Western world are in fact abandoning freedom for collectivism and that does not bode well for the future. You would think humanity would have learned that lesson by now. It seems that humanity has a short memory.
