A couple of days ago I tracked down our retired Splinterlands Index Guild Co-Leader @jongolson to see if he would be willing to promote me to Co-Leader as I am an active member of the guild.
Jon readily agreed, and within minutes I found myself elevated to Guild Co-Leader with his blessing to do what I think good for the guild.
[Hirohurl rubs his hands and cackles with evil glee!]
Just for the record, I then made an unsolicited offer to make a small donation to a charity of Jon's choice. I bet you can't guess what Jon's choice was! That won't happen until some time in April, and I'm hoping to be able to make a cash donation in yen, and in person. If that works, it should provide some good content for a blog post!
So here I am, Co-Leader of a guild on Splinterlands, which is quite funny when I recall how long I held off from joining Splinterlands because I didn't want to "get sucked in" to a game when I was trying to build an online business! LOL!
It was only when I discovered that you could earn juicy returns on staked SPS, and the only way to stake your SPS was to open a Splinterlands account and stake them inside it that I joined the party... and ... got ... sucked in!
My First Act As Index Guild Co-Leader
I'd been thinking about asking Jon if he'd make me Co-Leader for a while, but what prompted me to take action was my opening of a second account for my alter ego, Chiron Centaurus. I thought it would be great if Chiron Centaurus could join the guild, but had no way of facilitating it - until now.
So the first thing I did was invite Chiron to join the guild. And guess what... He joined straightaway and has just joined his first fray:
Building A Stronger Guild
Even though the old Index squad is no longer active in the guild, a rump of four regular players have kept the guild alive and earn Merits and SPS after every fray. My three colleagues @darmstrong @ijat @maddogmike regularly get great results, winning most if not all of their battles, so we punch above our weight, and it was good to see @benthomaswwd join us in a recent fray as well.
Now I'd like to build up the number of active brawlers again, firstly by inviting currently inactive members @chris.topher @elianaicgomes @hariton @kevinli
@threesteps @ventrack to come back and take part again, and secondly, to attract fresh and active brawlers to our guild.
If you, dear reader, are not already in our guild and would like to join us as an ACTIVE member, let us know in the comments below.
Supporting Guild Members
Since becoming Co-Leader I found out that active guild members @ijat and @darmstrong are also Splinterlands validators and so I voted for them here:

Here is ijat's PeakD post ("Validators with a PeakD post describing their node setup are more likely to be a quality node."):

A Possible Name Change?
I'm not sure what the status of the Index fund is these days, or how attached to it the active players are. However, I like the idea of a change of name, image and purpose for the guild... Let me know in the comments below if you have any thoughts either way about that.
In the meantime, in the approximate words of the Brawler of Avon,
Once more unto the FRAY, dear friends, once more;
Or close the BRAWLS up with our MONSTERS' dead.
In peace there's nothing so becomes a man
As modest stillness and humility:
But when the blast of war blows in our ears,
Then imitate the action of the CENTAUR.
Cheers!
