Hola amigos del arte.
Hoy se me antoja hablarles de un artista excepcional. Un artista de la plástica de mi ciudad de Las Tunas.
Es un artista miniaturista, se dedica a hacer pequeñas obras de arte. Este es un arte difícil, mi amiga @iriswriter puede dar fe de ello, pues ella es crítica de arte y se ha detenido analizando las artes plásticas.
Mi amigo se llama José Ángel Naranjo. Lo conocí en el año 2002, cuando comencé a trabajar como especialista en literatura en la casa de cultura Tomasa Varona de mi ciudad de Las Tunas.
En el recorrido de palabras les voy compartiendo las obras de arte de Naranjo. El caso es que él es autodidacta, nunca estudió en ninguna academia ni obtuvo conocimientos sobre teoría y técnica. Todo salió como un don.
Entonces comenzó como alguien más que le gusta hacer algo por entretenimiento o pasatiempo, hasta que le fue agarrando por el gusto de hacer más cada día.
Es increíble, todas estas miniaturas que les estoy mostrando las hizo en menos de un mes, fueron un pedido que le hicieron para obsequiar a los invitados extranjeros que iban a estar en La fiesta de raíces y tradiciones del sitio donde trabajo.
Naranjo en estos momentos tiene más de 70 años y trabaja como guía de la galería La Jungla en la Fundación Nicolás Guillén. Es incansable. Pero tiene una fortaleza para ser útil y seguir creando.
Trabaja cada día de lunes a sábado y en los momentos en que no tiene visitas, lo mismo dirigidas que las que llegan por simple curiosidad, él se siente ocioso y enseguida agarra un poco de lienzo, los recorta y monta en los pequeños caballetes que él mismo prepara.
Luego empieza a crear sobre los lienzos en blanco. Utiliza para pintar cualquier material, todo le sirve como pintura, acrílico, óleo, acuarela, tempera, café, incluso chapapote como en estas miniaturas que les muestro.
Y se le pierde la vista con espátulas y pinceles, haciendo trazos que al principio no tienen forma, pero luego se va haciendo la magia del arte en sus manos, las mismas manos que acariciaron a cada una de sus hijas.
Y el arte caminó por la sangre y llegó a ellas. Una de ellas, Ana María, es historiadora del arte y en estos momentos es quien preside la oficina del historiador de nuestra ciudad. La otra se llama Jezabel y es directora de programas radiales y promotora cultural en la comunidad de Martí, en la hermana provincia de Camagüey.
De esta manera el legado de José Ángel Naranjo seguirá por mucho tiempo, aunque él sigue vivo y con muchas ganas de hacer arte. Demás está decirles que conversar con él en momentos de ocio tiene recompensas.
Pues mi amigo tiene muchos amigos, los cuales, al saber de su fascinante mundo como miniaturista, le regalan obsequios especiales y casi siempre son obras de arte en miniatura. Regalos que él atesora además de coleccionarlos.

Hello, art friends.
Today I felt like talking to you about an exceptional artist. A visual artist from my city of Las Tunas.
He's a miniaturist; he makes small works of art. This is a difficult art, as my friend @iriswriter can attest. She's an art critic and has spent time analyzing the visual arts. ***
My friend's name is José Ángel Naranjo. I met him in 2002, when I started working as a literature specialist at the Tomasa Varona Cultural Center in my hometown of Las Tunas.
In this journey of words, I'm sharing Naranjo's artwork with you. The fact is, he's self-taught; he never studied at any academy or acquired any knowledge of theory or technique. It all came as a gift.
So it started out as just another hobby or entertainment thing, until it became a passion to do more every day.
It's incredible! She made all these miniatures I'm showing you in less than a month. They were a commission for foreign guests attending the roots and traditions festival at the place where she works.
Naranjo is currently over 70 years old and works as a tour guide for the La Jungla gallery at the Nicolás Guillén Foundation. He's tireless. But he has the strength to be useful and continue creating.
He works every day from Monday to Saturday, and when he doesn't have visitors, whether directed or just curious, he feels idle and immediately grabs some canvas, cuts it out, and mounts it on the small easels he sets up himself.
Then he begins to create on the blank canvases. She uses any material to paint; anything works, acrylic, oil, watercolor, tempera, coffee, even tar, as in these miniatures I'm showing you.
And she's lost sight of the palette knives and brushes, making strokes that at first have no form, but then the magic of art begins to happen in her hands, the same hands that caressed each of her daughters.
And art flowed through their blood and reached them. One of them, Ana María, is an art historian and currently heads the office of the historian of our city. The other is named Jezabel, and she is a radio program director and cultural promoter in the community of Martí, in the neighboring province of Camagüey.
In this way, José Ángel Naranjo's legacy will continue for a long time, although he is still alive and eager to make art. Needless to say, talking to him in your spare time has its rewards.
