Greetings Hive worlds! I am Iris, from East Java, Indonesia. I stumbled upon this interesting community and try to share my story here, so nice to meet you I guess! Today, I want to share my short walk with my little family to a nearby communal parks. We visited two places last weekend in order to find an outdoor activities for my 3 years old boy.
So, the first place was a somehow abandoned playground that was built in an elite neighborhood near my inlaw house. My boy was so into construction trucks and was begging us to bring him to the beach. However, since we got extreme weather warning for the next week, we couldn't take him to the beach. We brought him here then, where the playground was filled with beach sands with some of his trucks.
He played there happily, despite the condition of the playground that wasn't really well maintained. It was filled withb fallen tree branch and leaves. But, we found the sands was free from dangerous trash or cat's poo, so we let him play there. It was a nice playground actually. Sadly, the housing management didn't take care of it. The slides and the hanging line were all broken. But children enjoyed playing there, so I guess it didn't really matter for them.
My husband accompanied him to build a construction site and he was very excited. Building and destroying things has been his obsession lately and the two hit it off very well. My husband works in a different city and only came home at the weekend, so we always try to go out and entertain my outdoorsy boy whenever we got chance.
We spent about 30 minutes there, because suddenly some bigger kids decided to come. They were very loud and a bit rowdy, so we decided to change the place. Nearby there is another communal park. It is a roundabout actually, with a manmade ponds and a small garden in the middle of it. It was very beautiful and a lot off people come here to jog and walk because the neighborhood was clean and safe.
We strolled around the parks while enjoying the pretty pond. The sky slowly turned cloudy and we just wished that the rain wouldn't be suddenly falling. My boy keep asking why there is no fishes in the pond, and I guess itbis because the water is so murky that we couldn't see any. They had a beautiful bridge across the pond, but unfortunately the access was locked. So we just take few photos in front of the bridge. It's a pity because I really wanted to take pictures in the middle of the bridge.
However, the small garden in the edge of the pond was so beautiful and there were several benches built for people to rest and enjoy the scenery. We rest a bit since the roundabout was quite large and I want to absorb the ambiance for a bit. It didn't last for long because my boy just couldn't stay quiet. We got some nice picture though to add into my collection.
In the recent days that kids often staying at home playing with gadgets, I hope we can have more place like this where they can run and play freely and safely. However, this kind of place only can be found in the elite neighborhood, because people usually didn't appreciate the communal parks that was bulit and slowly they became dirty or under maintained. However, it was a really nice afternoon stroll for us. But sadly the rain began falling so we had to hurried go back home.
Thank you for reading my entry. Have a nice Wednesday and see you around!
