I woke up to a silence that only snow can bring. Everything felt paused and so beautiful i can't explain.The hills across from my house were wrapped in white, not fully buried, but gently dusted. I saw this scene after four years.
मैं उस ख़ामोशी के साथ जागी, जो सिर्फ़ बर्फ़ ही ला सकती है। सब कुछ थमा हुआ-सा लग रहा था और इतना सुंदर कि शब्दों में बयान करना मुश्किल था। मेरे घर के सामने की पहाड़ियाँ सफ़ेद चादर में लिपटी हुई थीं। पूरी तरह ढकी नहीं, बस हल्के-से बर्फ़ से सजी हुई। यह नज़ारा मैंने चार साल बाद देखा था।
I took these photos a day after the snowfall, when the sun finally came out. The clouds still lingered low in the sky, moving slowly, brushing against the mountain tops before drifting away. Some areas glowed as sunlight found its way through, while others remained dark and heavy, still clinging to the cold.
मैंने ये तस्वीरें बर्फ़बारी के एक दिन बाद लीं, जब आखिरकार धूप निकल आई। बादल अभी भी आसमान में नीचे लटके हुए थे, धीरे-धीरे चलते हुए पहाड़ों की चोटियों को छूते और फिर आगे बढ़ जाते थे। कहीं धूप अपनी जगह बना पा रही थी और रोशनी फैल रही थी, तो कहीं अंधेरा और भारीपन अब भी ठंड को थामे हुए था।
What caught my eye the most were the icicles. Perfectly clear, hanging from wires, frozen mid-drip. They looked delicate but sharp, beautiful yet reminding you how cold it really was. Just water, paused in time.
सबसे ज़्यादा मेरी नज़र बर्फ़ की लटकती धारों पर गई। बिल्कुल साफ़, तारों से लटकी हुई, जैसे टपकते-टपकते बीच में ही जम गई हों। वे नाज़ुक भी लग रही थीं और नुकीली भी। खूबसूरत, लेकिन इस बात की याद दिलाती हुई कि ठंड कितनी कड़ी थी। बस पानी ही तो था, जो वक़्त में थम गया था।
Down below, rooftops were layered with snow, clean and untouched. Trees carried the weight of it on their branches, bending slightly but not breaking. Everything looked calm, but you could feel how harsh the weather had been just hours ago.
नीचे की ओर छतें बर्फ़ की परतों से ढकी हुई थीं, बिल्कुल साफ़ और अनछुई। पेड़ों की डालियों पर बर्फ़ का बोझ था, वे हल्का-सा झुकी हुई थीं लेकिन टूटी नहीं थीं। सब कुछ शांत दिख रहा था, लेकिन महसूस हो रहा था कि कुछ ही घंटे पहले मौसम कितना कठोर रहा होगा।
