Volunteering: The best part of me

Greetings!

Helping people without expecting anything in return from them has always been part of me right from while I was growing up. Though then, we were being forced to helping people by our parent without any gain or profit received from it. Most especially, back then in the ages, we are used to assisting the aged and other people who are physically impaired to fetch water, firewood or even assist them in carrying their luggage whenever they were coming from the market or any other places. Though, its not as if we didn't use to assist others back then, but one thing is that, these sets of people are those that where in need of our help. And no matter what offer they offer us back in the days, we've been taught not to receive such offer. So, everything we did for them was free and out of volunteer

So, this has always been the kind of life we're being taught to live right from our childhood days. So, growing up with such a life has been part of me and it will always be difficult for me to ditch such a path for another parh of doing things for people because of my own personal gain, being it monetary or otherwise. Though, I have my own personal business that earn me money and that's business, so don't misquote me, but there are some other aspect of life that I do for free just to build myself and the society i belong to.

During my NYSC days at the okwelle community, I remember how I and my friends.used to help in sensitizing the villages on how to make their environment clean and free from all kinds of dirt. Then, we used to move from one market square to the other just to sensitize them on how to live a in dirt and germ free environment. We told them that they can only live in a germ free environment and stay healthy only if they maintain good hygiene. We didn't stopped at that, we equally donated basket and dustbin can to them so as for them.to stay healthy and we even practicalised to them, how they can go by all we have taught them. All these are voluntary actions to the community.

So, offering voluntary assistance to people is a good thing and this I do with pleasure and the joy that comes to me while doing it is unexplainable let me say, that's where I used to derive my joy and happiness. Whenever I volunteer to assist a person or groups of persons,I feel fulfilled.
The not so long assistance I render to people was in the line of my work which is a teaching job, recently in my school, I discovered that most of the students in the school are not performing well in their academics and in lieu of this, I was not so happy about the dwindling level of their academic performances so, as a result, I decided to take a prompt action in tackling the problem and the first thing I did was to have a meeting with the management. At the meeting, they all embraced my idea of rendering my own personal assistant to impacting and improving the students academic performances but warned me not take a dime from the students. It's when I heard this that I came out to them when my full plan, telling them how I have volunteered myself to teaching and impacting the students so as to salvage their current bad academic performances. When they all heard this, they were happy and pledge their support toward the success of my volunteered program.

So, all through the first term, I personally organized a extra mural class for the terminal classes and with the help of my friends as I could not do it alone, I was able to actualize my mission for the volunteered vision of improving the academic performances of the students. And thank god, those students sat for SSCE and WASSCE examination and they all came out in flying colour. All these were for free and thank God I recorded the expected success without taking a dime from anybody. Thanks to my team as well. But I'm happy to be the brain behind the volunteered mission cum vision.

Also, i.was able to volunteer myself to tutor a guy fo.the last Jamb examination., not only that, I equally paid for him to register the exam and this is because this guy is a bright student that needed help just because his parent were not well to do. So, I took it upon myself to pay for his jamb examination and also to tutor him.towards him passing the exam and lo and behold, I didn't regret my action of volunteering to see him.through the journey. He sat, wrote and passed the exam without him paying a dime to anybody

So, to volunteer and help others has always being what I love to do and I will always volunteer to help people in all aspect of their lives that need be come rain come shine. This is because i love to do it as it has become part and parcel of me. Like I said earlier, I derive my joy and happiness from doing so, and nothing can stop me from helping people.
