An old woman once asked me, why are you able to fish from morning to night, isn't that a very boring thing?
At that time I just kept quiet and smiled without answering a word because I knew even if I had given a reason and answer she would definitely not understand and comprehend. Fishing is not only about our techniques to be able to catch a lot of fish, but also about the calm, peace and satisfaction in every pull of the fish. For me, fishing is the best escape from the noise of this world, there we will find a point of silence in the world, the gentle breeze and the sound of water in the river or sea.
Until now, fishing is still my main hobby and I am willing to do it even though I have to leave some other important things, and in this post I will share an experience of mine when I and some of my friends went fishing in the morning. Sunday, February 15, 2026, my three friends and I decided to take a trip to an old port in Langsa City, the main goal was fishing and the rest was the hope for happiness.
This is the condition in the old port area of Langsa city, this port used to be one of the quite popular tourist destinations in Langsa city but now this place has been officially closed and here we can find many tourist facilities that have been damaged and abandoned, but until now I do not know the reason why this port is closed to the public, and the answers I got from local residents also vary so that it makes me confused.
This port has a very large size, but our goal at that time was to go to the area along the Langsa river, at that time the morning atmosphere was still very calm and cool, the water in the river moved very slowly so that it reflected the shadow of the bright sky. The natural atmosphere around was also very calm because it was still filled with many lush trees.
At that time we were looking for a suitable spot for fishing, my friend who was very experienced in fishing suggested that we fish above the harbor, the harbor area was very large and spacious so we could fish to our heart's content and freely. There was a large ship parked on the edge of the harbor but I didn't know what ship it was.
This is what I mean by tranquility, while waiting for the bait to be eaten by the fish, I can look at the natural scenery with satisfaction and feel the natural atmosphere which is so calming, my hope at that time was to be able to catch a big fish
Not long after, one of my friends named Hafidh immediately got his first fish, the fish he caught was very big and in my area this fish is called red snapper.
We didn't bring scales at that time, but this fish was very big, according to our estimates this fish weighed around 1.8 kilograms, it is very rare for anglers to get a red snapper of this size, and this is a stroke of luck.
That day we fished from morning to night,and this it was not only about who caught the most fish but also about how we spend our free time well so that we can get happiness.
More or less, this is the result that we got at that time, I myself managed to get 2 stingrays and several other fish, and this was enough to be used as a side dish for dinner.
