Last night I heard news that, honestly, left me speechless: the death of Chuck Norris, that action icon who marked entire generations. He left on March 19, 2026, at age 86, after a medical emergency in Hawaii, surrounded by his family.
I remember seeing him for the first time in the 70s, when he appeared alongside Bruce Lee in that legendary fight in Way of the Dragon (1972). That mythical scene between the two was, for many, one of the great battles in martial arts cinema 🥋. Since then, Chuck Norris has become synonymous with strength, discipline, and a very particular type of heroism: that of the silent vigilante.
During the 80s, his image grew to become an action film phenomenon. Films like Invasion U.S.A., Delta Force, Lost in Action and Lone Wolf McQuade were hits that established him as one of the biggest names in American action cinema. The curious thing is that, even as the years passed, his characters always had the same seal: that of a just, incorruptible man with an unbreakable moral code. The kind of man who, being simply human, wanted to stick to his principles and not transgress his own rules or oaths.
Already in the 90s, that series that many of us follow with affection arrived: Walker, Texas Ranger. At home, it was almost a tradition to see her. I especially remember one of my older aunts, who did not miss a single episode: she loved that noble spirit of Ranger Cordell Walker, firm but deeply human 🌄.
I liked it too, perhaps because I felt that it was a kind of continuation of that tough character from Lone Wolf McQuade, only with more humanity and less anger. In the old '80s movie, his Ranger was almost a "Dirty Harry in a cowboy hat": ruthless, stern, with a tough, direct sense of justice. In the series, however, the character seemed to have found a balance between strength and empathy, without losing his essence as a man of principles.
Today, knowing that Chuck Norris is no longer with us, a certain nostalgia invades me. Not only for the actor and martial artist he was, but also for what he represented to many: a figure of determination, courage, and righteousness. His name will remain engraved in the collective memory, and his scenes will continue to repeat themselves in the minds of those of us who grew up watching him emerge triumphant, over and over again.

Anoche me enteré de una noticia que, sinceramente, me dejó sin palabras: el fallecimiento de Chuck Norris, aquel ícono de acción que marcó generaciones enteras. Partió el 19 de marzo de 2026, a los 86 años, tras una emergencia médica en Hawái, rodeado de su familia.
Recuerdo haberlo visto por primera vez en los años 70, cuando apareció junto a Bruce Lee en aquella legendaria pelea de El Furor del Dragón (Way of the Dragon, 1972). Esa escena mítica entre ambos fue, para muchos, una de las grandes batallas del cine de artes marciales 🥋. Desde entonces, Chuck Norris se convirtió en un sinónimo de fuerza, disciplina, y un tipo de heroísmo muy particular: el del justiciero silencioso.
Durante los años 80, su imagen creció hasta transformarse en todo un fenómeno del cine de acción. Películas como Invasion U.S.A., Delta Force, Perdidos en Acción o Lobo Solitario McQuade fueron éxitos que lo consolidaron como uno de los grandes nombres del cine de acción estadounidense. Lo curioso es que, incluso cuando pasaban los años, sus personajes siempre tenían un mismo sello: el del hombre justo, incorruptible y con un código moral inquebrantable. La clase de hombre que, siendo simplemente humano, quería apegarse a sus principios y no transgredir sus propias normas o juramentos.
Ya en los 90, llegó aquella serie que muchos seguimos con cariño: Walker, Texas Ranger. En casa, era casi una tradición verla. A mí también me gustaba, quizás porque sentía que era una especie de continuación de aquel personaje duro de Lobo Solitario McQuade, solo que con más humanidad y menos ira. En la vieja película de los 80, su Ranger era casi un “Harry el Sucio con sombrero de vaquero”: implacable, severo, con un sentido de justicia rudo y directo. En la serie, en cambio, el personaje parecía haber encontrado un equilibrio entre fuerza y empatía, sin perder su esencia de hombre de principios.
Hoy, al saber que Chuck Norris ha dejado este mundo, me invade cierta nostalgia. No solo por el actor y artista marcial que fue, sino por lo que representó para muchos: una figura de determinación, valor y rectitud.
