Brown Pelicans at the beach in Baja provide some dramatic photo opportunities.




Brown pelicans fly in these graceful tight lines (often called squadrons)

They make dramatic plunge-dives. They can spot a fish from 60 feet up and hit the water like a torpedo.


A successful fishing trip! The pelican will toss its head back to swallow the fish whole, usually head-first so the fins don't get stuck in its throat.
